Keep your eyes peeled to the skies this weekend for a possible aurora borealis if you live in the northern section of the country.. There is a solar storm predicted this weekend that is going to give Earth a pretty glancing blow. Usually the northern lights are more visible at the northern pole (hence the name lol). This storm has produced an accompanying slower moving, massive cloud of charged particles (known as coronal mass ejection or CME) large enough that it is expected to be seen at lower altitudes. So, skies permitting (no clouds) we may be able to witness that this weekend for us residents of the nothern US. Just a heads up. :)

too cool, thanks. do you know at what southern most latitudes this may take place? the wife has me running outside now watching the ISS go by at times. she found a web site ''space weather.com'' that has many lists of objects, NEOs, NEAs, CMEs, satellites and the ISS.
