Post Draft Team Needs

Here are the positions I still view as needs after the draft:

Kicker: Hopefully Nick Folk gets the boot from the Patriots after their pick

Guard: I just….don’t get it. Unless Tyler Smith is now an OG and Waletzgo is a baller, they still need a starting caliber OG.

Big HB: Maybe your UDFA FB fills this role, but I think we are missing a short yardage guy. Maybe Ronald Jones can overeat a bit?

Starting TE: No offense to Schoonmaker. I think he will be an EXCELLENT complimentary blocking TE, but hopefully someone surprises and takes the #1 role. I don’t see it currently.

What should the Cowboys be willing to give Zeke for a one year contract?

Kicker: We have free agent dollars to sign Gold.
Guard: In house with 4 candidates.
Big HB: Jerry and Dak both are preparing us for the return of Zeke.
Starting tight end: Schoonmaker completes the tight end room. We now have four tight ends that together become one. The Cowboys now can run the 12 personnel which Dak plays his best in.

Jerry did say they had a kicker being target in the draft but was taken earlier than expected. So at least there was some effort there.

I would say biggest holes are LG and Kicker. Can't speak too much about the TE because I didn't watch too many Michigan games.

Dallas could have filled the OG spot for years by selecting O'Cyrus Torrence (taken in 2nd round right after Dallas) instead of a soon-to-be 25-year-old blocking TE. They also could have traded up into the earlier 4th round to select Texas RB Roschon Johnson (selected #115 by Chicago) and they would have come away with a much better draft.

I’m not saying that they need to get another TE. I’m just saying I don’t see a starting caliber one on the team right now. Same as Guard. They just have bodies. Hope I’m wrong

Nothing. I’m sorry but at this point they need to see Zeke on the market getting no attention. If nothing else it’s a case study in how this team drastically overvalues players for far too long based on jersey sales. Plus it won’t be good for the locker room to bring back Zeke as a backup when he doesn’t see himself that way

Kicker - I assume we will find someone ...... I am worried about this.

Guard - I swear people forget that we signed free agent Guard Chuma Edoga and the fact that we drafted Asim Richards to move from Tackle to Guard. I think we are fine here, not great but fine.

RB - Everyone wanted to get rid of Zeke and now are panicking that we do not have a rush blocking RB. We have several guys and plenty of time to figure this out.

Ferguson can give us everything Schultz did for 1/15 of the cost. Schoonmaker is the best blocking TE we have had in years and his measurable in speed are good. He does get separation in his routes as well.

We have a ton of bodies at OG. Farniok has another year in weight room and got some game experience. We added two UDFA guys that were college tackles but project more as Guards. We signed the guy that has played like 60 games for the Jets and Falcons. There is no shortage of options...and if Steele is healthy, we already have a set OL.

RB room is a question mark...I'd consider taking a look at any of the XFL or USFL guys that had a good season. There are still FA vets. There are guys that will get cut.

There will be free agent kickers available... ot a big deal.
