Potential Draftees:
Tyler Linderbaum OC Iowa - would really help the middle of the OL most likely gone by #24
Kenyon Green OG Texas A&M - should really solve the LG spot, big guy, quick feet, very strong
Jordan Davis DT Georgia - a Vita Vea type where the middle of the DL will really help
Cameron Thomas DE San Diego St - lots to like about him, constant motor, good hands
Myjai Sanders DE Cincinnati - would be a nice pick in the 2nd
Jaquan Brisker S Penn St - would be my pick in the 2nd
Channing Tindall LB Georgia - pairing him with Parsons and Cox truly makes an elite LB corp
Michael Clemons DE Texas A&M - could help with a good rotation at DE
Cole Strange OG Chattanooga - a mean, nasty OG, loves to hit
Charlie Kolar TE Iowa St - great route and pass catcher, good blocker
Brian Robinson, Jr RB Alabama - could be available in 4/5/6 rounds and would be a great addition
Joseph Ngata WR Clemson - a Noah Brown replacement
Luke Goedeke OT Central Michigan - a late round guy with nice potential
Markquese Bell S Florida A&M - fast, hitter, good cover guy, Deion Sanders calls best safety in years
CJ Holmes CB Jackson St - under the radar guy that has Jalen Ramsey type skills
Austin Allen TE Nebraska - great height (6'9), great hands, best route runner, good blocker, could be the late round pick like some of the better TEs in the league

Who knows where they fall but all could help.

Mock Drafts are fun but extremely rare if you even get one player correct. Between now and April 28th in Vegas, a lot will happen including everybody's draft board changing. Players move up, move down and some teams will become enamored with a guy. Also free agency happens with the new NFL year starts on March 16th.

What do the Cowboys need? Who will they resign? Who will be the HC, DC and OC?

Best Guesses:
McCarthy will still be the HC, Moore still the OC and my bet Quinn still the DC if the Bears don't hire him as HC. Dominoes for the other teams are starting to fall.

IMO we will resign Randy Gregory DE, Jayron Kearse S/LB, Cedrick Wilson WR, Jake McQuade LS, Bryan Anger P, and possibly Malik Hooker S. Francis Bernard and Luke Gifford will be given tenders since they are either a RFA or ERFA. Now depending on what price they command in free agency, guys like Carlos Watkins DT/DE, Brent Urban DT, L. Vander Esch LB, D. Kazee S, N. Brown WR, K. Neal, C. Clement RB and Michael Gallup WR could be offered contracts late in free agency.

Needs: Where we need immediate improvement to get the Boys to next level
1. OL - the LG and OC spots were by far the most weakness even with the injuries to Tyron Smith at LT. Sure we need to be looking for a LT to replace Smith probably in 2023/2024 but if we can remedy the LG and OC spots then the OL as a whole will be much, much better. One or both spots need to be addressed in the draft and early. There are some good ones in free agency but we all know Dallas isn't going to spend big on either spot. Although signing Nick Martin to a deal at OC wouldn't be the worse idea.

2. DL - imo, we resign Gregory and have Lawrence with Balsham and Golston then we have 4 quality DEs. At DT, we have found possible gold with Gallimore and Odighizuwa as 3 tech guys but to me Hill is still a question mark and Bohanna didn't get on the field anywhere near enough time to see if he can be the run stopper we need. Facing 2022 and not addressing the run defense is a big mistake.

3. Safety - seems like this is a need every year. If we resign Hooker and Kearse then it is a less of a need but still we have to count on Mukuama as a backup we know very little about.

4. WR - going to be very interesting here with Wilson, Gallup and Brown as free agents. IMO we could resign Wilson to a 3 year deal and possibly Gallup on a one year prove it deal. Cooper is going to be the unknown where we could restructure him or trade him to say a Jacksonville who wants a WR with sure hands for Lawrence. His $20 million cap hit is going to have to be resolved one way or another. Have to remember also, Jerry has always been about a big 3 i.e. QB, RB, WR so having Dak, Elliott, and Lamb fit the target and Cooper becomes more of a luxury. Waiting in the wings is Fehoko, Vasher and possibly Turner. Thought if John Metchie III WR Alabama is there in the 3rd, my bet is Dallas moves to get him.

5. CB - not so much as a need but you just have to have plenty of CBs in today's game. IMO, Diggs and Joseph will man the outside and Lewis as the slot guy next year. IMO we trade Brown at the beginning of free agency because he will pull down a 3rd or 4th round pick based on last year's production. C.J. Goodwin will be back and Nathan Wright should make a big jump from year one. Still drafting one or finding a gem in the rough as a UDFA is probable.

6. TE - love me some Dalton Schultz but resigning him would cost about an average of $12 million a year and don't see that happening in Dallas. We are riding with Jarwin and McKeon and late free agent or late draft pick.

7. LB - going into 2022 we have Parsons and Cox as two starters with backups probably Bernard and Gifford. We will draft one although probably not until 3rd round or later unless something unusual happens in the first two rounds. Could Vander Esch be back, sure it could happen but definitely have to be the right price.

8. RB - will Elliott heal, are we going to extend Pollard, great questions and believe for those two questions lead to drafting a RB in the middle rounds, just who will be interesting.

Mock w/trade:
24. Kenyon Green OG Texas A&M - he is a mean, nasty blocker and big, could be the next Zach Martin type and can play LT, LG, RG, RT so lots of versatility. Would give Dallas a solid OL with much better run blocking especially if Biadasz takes another step up in strength and line calls. With 11 games against teams in 2022 that ranked in top ten of run stopping, going to be important to fix the OL

Trade: Amari Cooper WR, Anthony Brown CB, 4th in 2023 for Jags #33 pick. Believe the Jags will take Neal with the 1st overall pick to protect Lawrence but they don't have a #1 WR on the roster and need some depth at CB. They have plenty of cap space to help in free agency and Cooper becomes Lawrence best friend.

33. Jordan Davis DT Georgia - sure he right now has a 1st round projection but OG and DT are two of the least drafted in the 1st round so would not be surprised to see him available. He is a mountain of a man at 6'6" and 340, huge disruption in the middle of the line, great run stopper and height makes it difficult for passers to throw over the middle.

56. Cameron Thomas DE San Diego St - he could go higher although depending on what happens with the CBs, QBs, and WRs we could see a number of good prospects fall. Has been compared a number of good pros and the strength and speed to make a big difference. Could see him spelling Lawrence on a consistent basis. Believe he is going to be special.

88. John Metchie III WR Alabama - really believe his ACL tear is going to push him from a 1st round consideration into the late 3rd round. Quite possibly has to start the year on the PUP list although his recovery is going well. Could see him being the Tyreek Hill for Dak as he has those type of skills. Even if he started the season on the PUP list, he would be a great mid season addition.

120s. 4th round. Channing Tindall LB Georgia - great speed sideline to sideline, trouble taking on blocks but a high upside, listed anywhere from a 2nd round pick to a 5th round. Could be a nice sleeper.

150s. 5th round. Brian Robinson, Jr. RB Alabama - if available in the 5th would be a great early replacement for Elliott or Pollard in 2023. Sneaky fast, great pass catcher, big and strong, always runs downhill, very good blocker and not a lot of miles on him.

160s. 5th round comp. Braxton Jones OT Southern Utah - potential LT with huge upside, nasty blocker and one of strongest guys in the draft on the OL, good feet, good eyes, level of competition only downside.

190s. 6th round. Austin Allen TE Nebraska - probably the most underrated TE in the draft. At 6'9" and 255 looks a bit thin but runs great routes, doesn't drop passes and able to block DEs if needed. Pretty shifty for his size and a knack for getting open, height really helps against any who guard him.

220s. 7th round Markquese Bell S Florida A&M - Deion Sanders mentioned him as the best pure safety in the draft, pretty high praise for a guy coming out of a small school. Just maybe a guy that solves the S problem for years. At 6'2" and 200, has the type speed, tackling, and coverage ability you need today.

UDFA 1. CJ Holmes CB Jackson St. - another small school guy that has been compared to Jalen Ramsey although hasn't faced the competition like Ramsey had

UDFA 2. Skylar Thompson QB Kansas St. - lots to like about him, a bit older at 24 but very good skills

UDFA 3. Jequez Ezzard WR/KR Sam Houston St. - would be a great addition, not only for his sticky hands and very elusiveness but a great kick returner and punt returner, he just makes people miss

Possible 53:
QB - Dak Prescott, Cooper Rush (Skylar Thompson PS)
RB - Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard, Brian Robinson, Jr.
TE - Blake Jarwin, Sean McKeon, Austin Allen
WR - CeeDee Lamb, John Metchie III, Cedrick Wilson, Michael Gallup, TJ Vasher, Jequez Ezzard
OT - Tyron Smith, La'el Collins, Terrence Steele, Josh Ball, Braxton Jones
OG/OC - Zack Martin, Kenyon Green, Issac Alarcon, Tyler Biadasz, Matt Farniok
ST - Greg Zuerline,Bryan Anger, Jake McQuade
DT - Jordan Davis, Neville Gallimore, Osa Odighizuwa, Trysten Hill, Quinton Bohanna
DE - Demarcus Lawrence, Randy Gregory, Tarbel Basham, Chauncey Golston, Cameron Thomas
LB - Micah Parsons, Jabril Cox, Channing Tindall, Luke Gifford, Francis Bernard, Jayron Kearse
CB - Trevon Diggs, Kevin Joseph, CJ Goodwin, Jourdan Lewis, Nathan Wright, CJ Holmes
S - Donovan Wilson, Malik Hooker, Israel Mukuamu, Markquese Bell

I like your reasoning and the trade although I would prefer to keep brown in the slot and use Lewis in the trade.

I love the Cam Thomas upgrade over Armstrong and the improvement at DT.

I Like Tindall as an addition but I guess that would leave Cox as the run stuffing MLB and I don't think that is his strength.

I love how you created cap space by trading Cooper but left us with a deep and talented WR group.

Mock draft looks good, especially the first two. I'm an advocate for building the lines. Where is our OT, though? I think we need to take one high - if the value is right.

Tyron Smith simply isn't going to last very long. We need to find his replacement.
I've heard mixed reviews on Jordan Davis. I'm willing to take a chance on him, especially if he drops to the second round. The 49ers basically announced they were going to run on us, and we couldn't do anything about it. A monstrous space hog is what we need in the middle of our defensive line. With Parsons coming off the edge, we need the quarterback to step into a collapsing pocket. More sacks and no more exploiting our porous run defense.
Metchie may be gone before the fourth. ACL's aren't as debilitating as they used to be, and Metchie should be ready for training camp.

By the way, does anyone have a projection of our compensation picks for this year, assuming we lose Cooper, DLaw, Gallup, etc.?

Another name is Jermaine Johnson from FSU. Seeing him mocked to us quite a bit

Good stuff. Appreciate the effort. Metchie seemed to be falling a little before the injury, but I think he will be a strong pro

I doubt any team would trade for Coop w/o reworking his contract of $20M (per year) over the next 3 years. I doubt he'll restructure for a certain bottom feeding teams like the Jags. The bottom line, is he has some leverage where he gets traded........
