I was glancing at the teams numbers on pro football reference and initially disappointed at how many points per game we ended up giving up only to remember, oh yeah, extra game. So I calculated per game with 16 or 17
For the last 10 years in order this year is 3rd best
2016 19.1
2019 20.063
2022 20.118
2018 20.3
2017 20.8
2021 21.1
2014 22.0
2015 23.4
2013 27.0
2020 29.6

This is as good as it's going to get for this glitz and glamour franchise. You guys wishing Quinn away deserve Rob Ryan for eternity.

Because Micah stopped being other worldly and just became elite. The defensive talent outside Micah is very average, or mostly below average, tbh.
But even when Micah would be out of the game you would still have guys make plays. Dorance Armstrong was playing great. I think it’s more than just Micah. He’s still commanding double teams and getting pressures.

Not entirely true. There are some pretty solid edge guys and the safety unit is very good this year. Diggs is still elite, according to his peers and most media without an agenda. Interior DL and LB need to be improved in the offseason. Hopefully experience will bring Clark up to speed and LVE sticks around. DT can be addressed in the draft/free agency, but the FO NEEDS TO allocate real assets to that position group if they expect this defense to take that next step.

The defense hasn’t been anything special since Prescott returned in week 7, and has looked downright rough at times

40 vs Jax
34 vs Minshew
29 vs CHI
31 vs GB

Tale of 2 halves, certainly not the SB caliber unit it was being hyped up to be. Parsons is worn down and we’re finding out he was really just lipstick on a pig. Group of JAGs when 11 isn’t Superman.

Does this include pick 6s, or is it legit TDs that the D gave up?
+1. I swear a fairly large percentage of the fanbase either has memory issues or didn't actually watch the games.

Outright TD's given up
3

Turnovers inside the 30
4

That's just in the last 5 games. The turnovers are just absurd but because his lord and highness Dak is responsible for most of that, its someone else's fault.

100% agree. Beyond Daks performance, I got the most irritated at people saying the whole team played poorly. If not for the dropped punt snap and the pick 6, the D held them to 12 points, which includes Turpins dropped punt as well. D played really well IMO. Laughably our O still would’ve lost if we held them to 12

I don't care what their yearly average is, I am more concerned about how they have played the last 3 or 4 games and against inferior talent they have not played very well. We have no idea what Dallas team will show up Monday night.

For those of you wondering what happened to the team's aggressiveness.....

For the last 5 games of the season the Cowboys were tied for least penalties in the league.

For the first 12 games of the season, they had the 2nd most penalties in the league.

Where in the season did their sack numbers begin to decline?

The elephant in the room with Dallas is turnovers. The defensive performance is underrated because of it. Dallas' best defensive performance was during Rush's 4 game win streak. Don't get me wrong, Rush is just a back up QB but when he was in that stretch, he didn't turn the ball over and wasn't getting 3 and out'ed constantly. As a result, opponents regularly had to drive a long field and they couldn't against the defense. Beyond that, the defense LEAD THE LEAGUE IN TURNOVERS. So many of Dallas' points on offense are a direct result of the D getting the ball in a scoring position.

The offense is obviously the complete opposite. They get the benefit of lots of short fields to pump up their scoring numbers and OTOH, they have created a lot of points for opponents by turning the ball over in bad places.

I can't believe how many fans are evaluating the offense and defense purely based on points while ignoring all of the pick 6's and short fields involved.

The story of the team used to be penalties. For the past few months, its been turnovers.
