I am all for expanding the practice squad like they did during the pandemic and retaining it. If you notice, a byproduct of that is that the better teams have gained an advantage (getting richer) by increasing their talent pool.

It’s not coincidence (IMO) that the Cowboys continue to get better with McClay, MM, DQ and Bones pulling the strings. This team is as loaded across the board as it has been since the SB years.

'Verdict' ---Exhibit A of your observation being on point:
The amount of money the Cowboys and the 31 other teams have been ponying up to coveted UDFAs, with lucrative signing bonuses in addition to the CBA contract minimum of $750,000.

I liked what Bones was saying about Juanyeh Thomas.

Did they expand the salary cap by a certain amount when they increased it by 6 players, or was it 8.
Just asking, because that money could go to keeping a better player on the 53. You know, as some have it against Lance for taking up a roster spot.
Yes, that player at #53 would be inactive and not make a difference, but just had to state this. :muttley:

I like that they did this, kept the 16. Now if they would expand the roster to 55, even if thy make just one of the extra active and the other inactive would be great.
However they could just change the call up from the PS rules allowing more flexibility than the 3 times rules could accomplish a lot.

It helps keep talented players in the league, even older guys who maybe didn't fit the scheme they played in.
They get significantly less than the minimum. That higher league minimum is probably what kept alot of veteran players on the streets before. 4 to 6 years minimum is 1.08m and 7+ is 1.65m VS 750k for a rookie. I think the PS minimum for players with 2 or more years is 270kish. It really helps give older players a chance to continue their, where before they would have been too expensive for the role they may have played

Isn’t the cap based on your top 51 players only anyway?

MM has made all the difference.

I think they should expand the roster to 60, and the active roster on game day to at least 53. Keep the CAP limit to the top 51 players. I think the current situation hurts the teams that draft well. If the NFL wants to make a big show out of the draft then stop punishing teams that are good at picking players.
