With 10 expected draft picks (4 Comps), the team has the necessary ammo to land as many of their targets

This is my projection, without simulation, based on multiple big boards around the net for draft slotting:

1-Rashawn Slater G/T Northwestern (Team will not be held hostage if either Tackle or Martin go down again)
2a-Trevon Moehrig S TCU (Perfect fit for our single high safety)
2b-Alim McNeill DT NC State (they have to fix their run defense)
3a-Baron Browning LB Ohio State (his athletic profiles matches KJ Wright, can play all 3 spots)
3b-Greg Newsome CB III Northwestern (ideal fit as a zone corner in a cover 3 scheme)

Trade Details

1) Pick 10 traded to Miami for picks 18 and 50. Miami wants to jump ahead of the Giants for DeVonta Smith and we want to move back with both Surtain/Farley off the board. Cowboys are pumped, as they would of taken Slater if a deal wasn't reached at 10.

2) Pick 44 and our 3rd rd comp to the Jets for pick 34. As soon as day 2 starts, Cowboys strike a deal with the Jets to land their Safety. Jets are in rebuild mode and want to obtain as many picks as possible.

3) Pick 105 and our 4th rd comp to Buffalo for pick 93

Slater sounds like a good player, did pretty well against Chase Young despite his arm length. I don't know too much about the rest but I like the positions targeted.

Too

Much

Northwestern

Certainly wasn't my plan, but the fit was very good with their skill sets:

Slater's best fit is with a zone blocking/west coast offense which we run. Have no reservations about him replacing Tyron Smith at LT down the line. He can upgrade LG day 1 and kick out to Tackle, if needed. It helps our OL out today and for the future.

After the top 3 CB's, the next two tiers should have similar grades. Newsome is an excellent fit as a zone corner in a cover 3 scheme. Melifonwu could also be considered, but I think he goes a little higher.

That’s a good haul although I’m not as convinced as everyone that Slater can play OT in the NFL.

Really like the Newsome pick in the 3rd.

There is going to be varying opinions with Slater. Some think he is a top 3 Tackle in the class, where others may view him more as an interior lineman due to lack of length.

The chase young game legend is a bit much. I watched it on youtube, it wasnt that impressive. If he didnt have that game i wonder if hed still get hyped up

Joel Klatt had him in his top ten and thought he could play RT but probably not LT.

Slater is a top 10 player and I wouldn't hate selecting him at 10, but taking him after a trade down works just fine for me.
He could play OG year 1 if Tyron and La'el are both full force.

Moehrig at 42 is pretty sweet to me. He can play that single high safety in the cover 3.

Alim might be bit of reach here but if you want a DT be prepared to reach. It's how it works basically every draft.

Browning and Newsome are good picks who could provide day 1 quality depth and might just surprise before the season ends by upending a starter.

I actually have the Cowboys trading up from 42 to draft Moehrig, think they have to get a top 5 pick in rd 2 to secure him.

Alim/Browning might have to be flipped. Although, it's rare to find a NT with some pass rush abilities.

I've seen him rated 33rd overall by Dane IIRC so yea anywhere near 40 is a value-add on him. Honestly he could go late R1 as the first safety on basically every board I've seen.

Joel Klatt had him in his top ten and thought he could play RT but probably not LT.

I have seen rated as high as 6th overall, to towards bottom of rd 1. Majority have him in the teens. Many do think he can play all 5 OL spots.

I could see the Cowboys calling in that late 1st rd, early 2nd rd range to land him.

The top 32 prospects will most likely get firmed up by April. I really liked Voch's video on Slater:

DeVonta Smith is mocked to go as high as #3 to Miami.

I don't think they will have the chance to get him at #10 in your hypothetical.

I think Slater will end up a very good offensive lineman, just not sure where. I have my doubts at LT, but at guard seems certain. Might be BPA, but could there be guys rated just under that could fill a bigger need that still have a high ceiling?

No way we take an OL in round 1 barring Tyron retiring or being cut

Really nothing to complain about with getting these players. I myself would not take Slater at 10, but he’s going to be a good player somewhere on the OL.

In this scenario, I have them taking him at 18 in a trade down with Miami

That’s a good haul although I’m not as convinced as everyone that Slater can play OT in the NFL.

Really like the Newsome pick in the 3rd.

I'm still hoping Sewell slips to 10 than in no order 2nd round and two 3rd Round picks DT, CB, Safety than 4th Round picks go LB, LB
