The Dallas Cowboys should be getting some extra ammo for the 2021 NFL Draft in the form of compensatory picks. While not officially announced yet by the NFL, one reliable source has projected the expected picks that Dallas should be awarded.

Yesterday, Over The Cap released their full projections for 2021 compensatory picks. These are based on a formula which compares a team’s free agent departures against its acquisitions the previous season.

In 2020 the Dallas Cowboys saw some of their talent sign lucrative deals with new teams such as CB Byron Jones and DE Robert Quinn. By not being big spenders themselves, the Cowboys now stand to get an impressive allotment of compensatory picks.

  • 3rd-round pick (CB Byron Jones)
  • 4th-round pick (DE Robert Quinn)
  • 5th-round pick (WR Randall Cobb)
  • 6th-round pick (S Jeff Heath)

Hope Quinn becomes a third round pick. That would be something 3 3rds?!

True and now teams can package compensation picks. If we have 3 3rd rd picks that give Cowboys some ammo should they need to move up to get a player they really like. Of course you can stand pat as well but it at least allows more options for the Cowboys

Was certain we'd get the 3.4.5 but the 6 was in doubt with new coaching comp picks added to formula.

Great haul and a lot of useful help should be coming.
Draftnik nerds are about to go crazy when all these picks are added to the mock simulators... lol.
They won't have the boards near corrected so we'll all draft 6 top 100 players and declare victory over life.

Totally agree. It could change the dynamic for us.

I just wish it came in a year where we actually had holes.

This is like giving a billionaire a suitcase full of cash.

If I was in the Dallas FO..

I would be taking $100,000 out of the petty cash box..

run down to the nearest 7-11..

and buy lotto tickets and hand them out at the front door to the employees.

The Cowboys just hit the draft big-time.

If they use all 10 picks and hit on them, like last year, they can replace a lot of dead weight.

No reason, if the scouting department does their job. As the will need to be better than ever without the combine. They can get at least 5 players to step in and contribute right away.
We don't have too many FA this year to get this type of haul next year.
Players we may get comps for, Smith, Awuzie, Woods, Lewis, Dalton, may a few others. Only Dalton and Smith may get us a 3rd, or 4th. The rest maybe 4th 5th or 6th.
But if we sign some FA's it will offset those.

So they need to take advantage of these 4 picks, as next year I don't expect any more than 2 picks. But that is way too far off.

The Cowboys need as many top 100 picks as possible. If they trade down out of the 10 spot they could have multiple picks in 4 rounds!

With those picks they can retool the defense immediately.

Let's hire a transgender waterboy . Goodell should give a compensatory 3rd for that
