Project - Nexteam -

To the fanatics with something in common,

We would like to propose to the NFL fan-ship the creation and addition of a new team to the NFL. Having been a lifelong Cowboy fan who has become tired of investing all his time and emotions into a team in which he has absolutely zero control over, I have come to realize just how plain silly the situation is. Not to mention so painful. And in the case of us Cowboys fans, dealing with an age old ownership who has consistently made horrible franchise decisions for the past 30 years, this has been far too long a ride. I know that we aren't the only fans going through this, in fact there is likely a LOT of fans out there that would agree with us, something MUST BE DONE! And the only way we are ever going to have our say in what a team does and how that team operates is by this uniquely, unconventional, approach to creating this new NFL team.

We propose that the new NFL team to be created is owned, managed, and operated by a democratic fan-ship. That anyone who becomes a fan of said team will have a say in what happens with and to that team. At every decision, from the draft, to the preseason, to who starts and who sits, to the plays called on game day, every single decision about how this team plans, operates, and conducts its business will be decided by the fans.

A Fund us page is in the works to ask for funds from those who may be interested in being part of and holding an interest in this new team. Should for some reason this project not find a reasonably decent chance at being a successful endeavor, all funds donated shall be returned in full to their prospective funders. Prior to even one cent being spent from this fund a functional and secure voting system will be emplaced so to govern the spending of these funds by way of democratic fan vote.

To create this new NFL team, three-quarters of the NFL's 32 club owners must vote in favor. This means that at least 24 clubs must approve the decision. We trust that all parties involved with this project will be on the hunt for more ways to ensure that 24+ NFL team owners will find our new team irresistible, and respectively vote to have this new, highly unconventional team, become part of the NFL. We are looking at proposing perhaps the most special team to ever be proposed as an addition to any sport, and here is your chance to be part of that history. You have to admit, this could truly turn into something very special.

More details will begin to be released concerning this project as time and interest will drive this cause. In the meantime the story is wide open to thoughts on a potential name for this new team. We'd love to make it a name more American than apple pie and the Dallas Cowboys themselves, if that's possible.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COSTS:

The cost of creating an NFL team includes an entry fee and the cost of building a stadium:

Entry fee: The entry fee for an NFL expansion franchise is $140 million.

Stadium: The cost of building a modern NFL stadium is typically between $1 billion and $2 billion.

The average value of an NFL team in 2024 is $6.49 billion, with the Dallas Cowboys being the most valuable at $11 billion. The value of an NFL team is determined by a number of factors, including revenue, profit, debt, media deals, sponsorship revenue, and non-NFL events at the stadium.

All 32 NFL teams combined have an average value of $5.7 billion for each team, up 11% from 2023's record $5.1 billion. Every team is profitable, with operating income of at least $56 million across the board for the 2023 season, according to Forbes estimates. Aug 29, 2024

We ask that you please donate what you can, be that one dollar, or one hundred dollars, what ever you feel you can do to help this cause give it your best. As previously stated, no funds will be spent without your vote, and not until we have a functioning and secure voting system in place. Stay tuned for the Fund Us site.

Please start thinking about ideas for a Team name:

The Red, White, and YOU

War Machine

US

Sincerely,

Team -Nexteam

The #1 priority of an NFL owner is making money not only for themselves, but also for other owners. If it doesn’t increase the value of the other 32 teams, it won’t go over well in an owners meeting. This is the primary reason we haven’t gotten an expansion team in 22 years despite the financial windfall that the NFL keeps pumping out.

In order to give NFL owners incentive to vote Yes on this project, you’d have to convince them that a fan-owned team would be more financially lucrative than a team owned by a successful billionaire who’s sole desire is to make more money. What is your pitch to them that would prove you are a superior expansion team than one made by Jeff Bezos or Steve Ballmer?

It’s close to the way Green Bay is structured

GB does not have fan owners. GB is owned by the league and sells paper slips that say “stock” which hold zero value.
I thought they operated more on board structure v a singular owner was not aware of the worthless “stock “ slip that the fan purchases I guess. Thanx. So it’s all just lipstick on a pig from the picture they present

the board members are “elected” by the fans, and the board members then choose CEO, President. That is the limit of the fan involvement. After that, the team is run by the CEO and President as they please, just like any other team.

So the fan stock is just a ticket to enter the board voting party. However, the candidates you vote for are pre-selected, so there is an illusion of choice. You cannot sell the stock, you cannot refund the stock, and the stock holds 0 value in the GB Packers or any Packer-adjacent capital, like season tickets or merchandise.

Every few years the team has a stock sale, which is really just a fundraiser to build liquid assets that a team with a billionaire owner normally has. Fans are effectively donating to the team.
