So long story short, my ps3 is no longer working. I sent it to a shop with people i've known for a long time. My warranty is no longer valid. They said the would need to replace the motherboard, which would be 60$ for the board and 40$ for the labor. A new ps3 would be more, and I was hoping someone would know where to find a reasonably priced motherboard. I'm very frustrated because I had just bought ncaa 12 and cannot play it.

I really hate to hear that about PS3,just bought the 160 gig with the black ops game.Retired my ps2 after 3 yrs.Haven't had any problems with it.I have not read of anyone doing their own repairs.Do not know if you can pick up one for parts and get one with a good mother board.
If it can be done you can find someone on here to tell you.

Is your PS3 the original 60GB model with PS2 backwards compatibility?

Only if you buy a new one and still want to play PS2 games.

Other than that, the new PS3 (slim) is actually a better choice.

...well unless you are only up for $60 which is better than spending $300 if you don't that type of disposable cash.
