It was the team's name that season - it should be used.
Went to 'Pro Football Reference' website. Game summaries for seasons before 20w0 are noted with the former team name.

That 99 team had some nice players on it, and should have been better than it ended up being.

No real pass rush though. The whiffs on Carver, Pittman and Ekuban truly hurt.
