I’d be interested in everybody's take. Mine:
Height: 6’3
Weight: 338lbs
Length: 33.5” arms
From what I saw watching him play he was mostly asked to two-gap which by assignment means a slow get off as he waits to react to the offense. But on the rare occasion that wasn’t the case he looked okay. I saw him bend around Paris Johnson playing a 5-tech, I saw him rag doll Avila (TCU) and Wypler (Ohio State) on the way to creating pressures but its like assessing Micah as a pass rusher…there’s not enough tape to make that assessment.
I did see a example of a club move, push-pull, and long-arm moves that looked quite technical but they were so infrequent it’s hard to judge. 90% of what he did was either two-gapping or a stunt.
Despite his role it was obvious played he had ridiculous power, if the Feldman Freak list info reported is accurate his 3-cone time and strength are unbelievable.
To be honest, when you compare to guys like Payne and Vea coming out of college I don’t see him match the violence and pressure those two created. I do feel he regularly knocked around high level O-linemen and showed good play awareness, I just never saw the sort of sustained violence I’d like to see from the a big men. In particular his bull Rush and hump move weren’t on display which were standout feature of Payne and Vea that made them top 15 picks where Mazi wasn’t so highly rated.
For Dallas, I think he’s an instant upgrade on Hankins and contrary to what others have said very coachable (nothing like Taco). In particular I think he makes Micah and LVE better and players as LVE has to wade through less trash and QB’s have less room to step up into. Regardless, I think it’s gonna be fun to watch.
