What real good is it until right before the game?

For Example, I believe Donte Stallworth is doubtful right now. How reliable is this and why would a coach make this report reliable? I many times see doubtful players play. Couldn't AR use this as a ploy to make the Cowboys think he will not play? To me, they shouldn't even mention this report until game time. I am sure it has to do more w/ gambling, but does the NFL really have any known affiliation w/ gambling?

The inury reports are turned in on Friday. Saturday if you play Monday. Many times a player may be doubtful on Friday, but improves by Sunday. Then the team, I believe has 2 hours before the game to make them active or in-active.

Coaches play games with the injury report all the time. The idea is to make the other team's preparation as difficult as possible. I wouldn't trust any of these reports. You plan (and prepare) on them playing their best.
