Being that our options are running out for a good FA kicker, are there any kickers that would be worth using a draft pick(late pick) on?

No prospects rated better than the 7th round I've seen. I don't think the draft is a great option if we're planning on doing anything this year.

I'm not a big advocate for investing a draft pick for a kicker.
But I think the kicker form Memphis(Gostkowski) is the best.
Better than the guy from Ohio St. also.

Connor Hughes of Virginia or Gostkowski.

Gostkowski of Memphis would probably be kid. 6'2 220LBs with a nice leg.

I remember hearing about an all star kicker in this year's draft. Did I just dream this?

Of course, I'd never advocate spending above a 6th on a kicker. Normally I'm against even that, but hey desparate times call for desparate measures.

Good kickers in college do not always translate into good kickers in the pro's.
The pressure level goes up several notches.
If you draft a kicker you are rolling the dice.
I think most teams who do draft kickers are teams that think they are very close to getting a superbowl or the Raiders.
The risk/reward is not worth it.
If we had 12 rounds of the draft like the old days, then you would see kicker's drafted more.

I think Hughes is the best kicker in the draft.

11-for-16 from 40-49 in his career 5-for-8 from 50+.

One caveat is he did not handle kickoffs this year but has in the past.

Hughes is a little more money from close range, but Gostkowski seems to be stronger from deep range ... 9 for 9 beyond 40 last year, including 3 for 3 beyond 50.

Hughes made all 23 of his attempts from 30 in during his career.

Is Goskowski the guy that was in the college competition a few weeks ago? If so, he did impress with his leg in that, albeit without a rush or anything.

Connor Hughes, Virginia
Jon Scifres, Missouri State
Josh Huston, Ohio State
Stephen Gostkowski, Memphis
Deric Yaussi, Wyoming

The kicker from Colorado that was thinking about coming out early would have been the best kicker by far in this years draft, but he went back to school.
