Usually talked about with regard to golf, specifically putting. Guys have negative thoughts over the ball on short putts than sends almost an electrical charge through them as they stroke the ball and the putt misses Notable examples are Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, and Bernhard Langer, just to name a few.

I guess it can happen to FG kickers which is what was discussed at BP's PC but I can't name any that have had this problem.

Yeah, it's usually associated with golf... but I suppose you could describe Chuck Knoblauch's throwing problems at second base as the "yips".
