I am beginning to wonder if we are making a big mistake in not going after a veteran kicker.

Rackers had some problems recently, but he's been solid at times in his career.

He choked in the "they are who we thought they were!" game a few years ago and the GB playoff game last year. Pass.

I don't like the strategy Dallas seems to be using. From the things that have been said by Wade and Jerry, it certainly looks like the plan is to give Buehler every chance to win the job with competition from Connor Hughes because the Cowboys really don't want to use two roster spots on kickers.

And it's fine to give those guys the first crack at the job, but I just hope we don't come up short-handed if they fail. There might be some veteran options still available if that happens, but I'd prefer to have one already locked up and then cut him if the young guys come through.

Of course, cutting the vet would be hard to do if you give him guaranteed money.

Lets just sign everyone and be done with it. Is there any vet out there that some poster doesnt think belongs here? Or that Dallas never gets the right guy?

What will posters say if Beuhler does a good job? Oh noes, Im glad we still have Rackers to hold the ball!!!!!!!!!!

It gets lame after a while.

I thought I had read where the Cowboys were interested in drafting the kicker from Bama.

If Buehler on Hughs don't win it. Stover is always out there. Still pretty acurate from 40.

I don't want them to draft a kicker.

The word is that it's an open competition between Rackers and Brown in training camp.

Winner takes the job...

And loser heads to the Cowboys if Buehler isn't getting it done in TC?

I don't think we will draft a kicker. I'd like to see Stover brought in for competition, but he only seems to want to accept a guaranteed job, not compete for one.

Maybe that will keep him off a roster long enough for Dallas to figure out if either of its guys can handle the job.

My only fear is that neither will and no one worth having will be available by then.

Anyone other than Suisham will be fine.

I rewatched that Vikings game yesterday and I still can't believe he missed two field Goals in that game.

He will never kick in the NFL again, watch.

If that is the route Stephen and Jerry decide to go, I expect to see that in August. Plenty of time to see if the man who scares Chuck Norris can kick it straight or not.

and what if the coaches see something you dont and like what they got? Maybe they might make a good decision or two? Just maybe.

If not we'll SIGN everyone. Even lame kickers keep fans happy.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think I'd be feeling too good if this (Rackers) was our prized free agent acquisition.
