John Clayton just said on ESPN’s “NFL Live” that the Raiders are preparing the process of cutting quarterback JaMarcus Russell.

Clayton said it is not a matter of if, but when Russell will be cut. He also said the team could release Russell before Oakland’s minicamp, which runs Friday through Sunday, and that there is no trade market for him. The Raiders will save more than $6 million if they cut Russell this year.

Has he bulked up enough to play center?

I remember when my friend first saw Jared Lorenzen playing for the Giants. He thought it was an offensive linemen. :lmao2:

This just makes me glad we actually got some decent play from Quincy Carter.

Thus QC>J.Russell.

This guy is the poster boy for ****ty, lazy, non-committed athletes.

If he doesn't get picked up does he crack the top five all time bust list?

I'm hoping other teams will start releasing a few players who might be able to help us. We won't find a starter among any of those released guys but I'd sure like to upgrade our backup OL positions--particularly Proctor. There's no way I want him to be the first option after Gurode.

I'm not defending JaMarcus Russell, but how much did the anarchy in Oakland contribute to Russell's failure?

I'm far from knowledgable about the current Oakland Raiders.

Have they gone through many/any coaching changes during Russell's time in Oakland?

Are they still using their 1960's offensive playbook? (or something similar)

How has their offensive line performed during Russell's time?

The NFL has had a few successful rookie QBs in recent years. Do you think any of those successful rookies would have had similar success on Al Davis's team?

This guy has got to be up there. What a waste of a pick.

Russells non contributions brought about Russells failure and he has no one to blame but himself. Its not like he was doing everything they asked and the team failed in other areas. Its not like he went out and proved to be better and the team failed him or the coaches didnt work with him.

Russell failed and failed early. Even Vince Young whos had a rough road made the treacherous climb back, every cowboy fan is screaming for Romo to get better, how? i dont know and why they do it i dont know but it happens and Romo has continued to get better.

Russell failed and he failed himself and everyone around him.

so it's safe to say that Al Davis, JaMarcus Russell and theogt were the only people on Earth that thought this was a good pick?

Remember the story about him blowing off exit meetings to go hang at the Palm in Vegas last year? How bout the reporters interviewing him and he tells them "he really does'nt think he is the problem". Tells you all you need to know about him. Al thought he saw Lamonica, just like he thought he saw Cliff Branch in Heyward-Bey. More like Vince Evans and James Jett.

When you say "preparing to release JaMarcus Russell", is that like when marine biologists prepare to release a beached whale back into the ocean?

Oh stop it already!:bang2: The guy cleary hasn't been interested in dedicating himself to the game, has very little to do with what you asked, it is a case where the man took the money and ran. He got paid and that is the main reason I have a problem with rookies getting paid the huge salaries and guaranteed money upfront. Perhaps some of the successful rookie qb's of recent years would have struggled had they instead been in Oakland but it is probably certain they would have struggled with their respective teams too had they followed Russell's inept ways of preparing both body and mind.
