I had a great time at the new stadium yesterday, and had a blast hanging out with Cowboy fans that were sitting around me. It was my first visit, and let me say that the place just takes your breath away.

A few of my thoughts, helpful hints for future visits, and a funny moment or two are below:

1) Park at Lincoln Square if you go to a game. Thanks to "Danny White" for telling me about it. I parked at the Bed, Bath & Beyond, bought a $40 gift card from there, put the receipt on my dash, and walked straight to the stadium in 8 minutes. Taco Bell was charging $60 for parking, or you have to buy $60 worth of $0.89 tacos. That would be something.

2) When I got to the stadium, the first person I saw was Mickey Spagnola walking towards the press entrance. I said, "Hey Mickey, this is a big day!" He kinda looked at me funny, like he was surprised that someone actually recognized him. He almost looked disappointed to go to work.

:laugh2:

3) Temperature was cold. I froze my tail off until the doors opened up. The Miller Lite girls were keeping me warm, and vice versa. ;)

4) There weren't as many Philly fans there as I expected. I had a few sitting right next to me. A Philly fan 2 sections over from me got tossed out of the stadium. It was fun to watch.

5) Attendance was only around 93,000 or so. C'mon Cowboy fans! I drove 460 miles each way just for this game. Surely the locals can max out the attendance for a playoff game!

6) Crowd noise: Our favorite subject. After attending games at LSU, I must say that the crowd at Cowboys Stadium is disappointing. There is no comparison. The problem is that the stands aren't filled with hardcore fans. Many of them are running around getting their nachos, or avoiding their ex-girlfriends, or meeting up with people they see every day. To make noise, you have to actually know what is going on in the game. It isn't social hour for crying out loud! And you're supposed to eat before you get to the game, instead of buying $15 nachos anyway! That's what tailgating is for! Any coincidence that LSU is the tailgating capital of the world, and has one of the loudest crowds in football? Hmmm...

7) Bathroom lines at halftime are horrendous and hurts crowd noise because most dudes can't get back to their seats in time for the 2nd half kickoff. I always go at the end of the 1st and 3rd quarters. If you go at the half, don't plan on getting back to your seat until half the 3rd quarter is over.

8) Always get a seat. The party pass thing looks miserable.

9) The video board is crystal clear and simply amazing. If I was a kicker, I would be ashamed to hit it with the ball.

10) I worry about our players next week (from a mental standpoint). Perhaps it is because this is the only game I've attended at home this year. Aside from the Gatorade dunk, and Wade being carried off on shoulders, you would have thought this team just won the Super Bowl. I hope the hunger is there next week...

11) TV doesn't do our team justice. We have a very fast and physical team. Philly looked like they were running in molasses.

12) Jenkins is a blast to watch. He and the Philly receivers were chirping all game long. I focused on Jenkins most of the game. I would have loved to listen to the conversation with Philly's WRs.

:laugh2:

That's pretty much it. It was a great, great experience, and I hope to do it again in a couple of weeks.

;)

A billion two and there aren't enough toilets, troths, bathrooms?

Gawd, if that wasn't loud enough, I don;t know what NFL team will be loud enough, well other tham maybe Superdome.

I get sick and tired about the out of towners and one time visiters complaining about Crowd noise constantly. Yep, LSU can and probably is louder. When you got fans who just about Drink and eat a lot, I am sure they get loud. Same with New Orleans.

Second, Team, didn't seem as happy or overtly excited as I expected them to be. Infact seem like they got onto to next game after brief celebration. I love all the us Arm Chair QBs/coaches hope they don't let up.

Sorry, didn't mean to come hard, but too many fans still want to live in 90s and SB cowboys. This team is not that, not yet anyway.

glad you enjoyed it

i doubt tickets will be as easy to come by if New Orleans loses and the champ game is in Arlington

knowing that everybody rushes to the bathroom and concession stands at halftime I go before or after. I watch one play at foot of stairs, head for toilet, no line , come back out watch next play on a TV screen which are all over the place, then take off for my seat. I missed one play last night.

you are right about the tailgate, i have yet to buy food inside the stadium.
i have to have water or a soda to cool my burning throat though!

All subjective. I went to the Commanders @ Cowboys game with about 85,000 in attendance and the crowd noise was out of control. Might have been where you sat.

I will upload a video I took of the stadium during pregame to demonstrate crowd noise. My camera's stabilizer was malfunctioning it was so loud.

Plus, a bunch of super-drunk coeds at a college game tailgating along with you yourself being drunk from tailgating probably makes it seem louder than it is.

My thoughts in bold.

3) Temperature was cold. I froze my tail off until the doors opened up. The Miller Lite girls were keeping me warm, and vice versa. ;) Quit being a wussy. The wife and I waited for our shuttle for over an hour outside after the game and we were comfortable. Of course we came from KC where it's been below zero for most of the week.

4) There weren't as many Philly fans there as I expected. There were very few Iggles fans as far as I could tell, much (about 90%) less than when I went in 2004.

5) Attendance was only around 93,000 or so. C'mon Cowboy fans! I drove 460 miles each way just for this game. Surely the locals can max out the attendance for a playoff game! It was a short week, people are probably less likely to get the party pass thing since you can't see the action unless you're very early.

Any coincidence that LSU is the tailgating capital of the world, and has one of the loudest crowds in football? Hmmm... Can't disagree completely. It was pretty loud I thought, though I can't compare to LSU since I've never been (never will either). There are some insanely stupid fans though who have no idea what they're doing. They like to start chants right before the Cowboys start an offensive play. Also, what is important is how loud it is on the field. The engineering of the stadium can determine how loud it seems at different areas of the stadium.

Bathroom?? That's reserved for before and after the game. Anything in the middle is just wrong. Don't forget the Depends next time ;)

8) Always get a seat. The party pass thing looks miserable. I'd agree with that.

9) The video board is crystal clear and simply amazing. If I was a kicker, I would be ashamed to hit it with the ball. It was nice, but for some reason not as impressive to me as I thought it would be. It didn't seem nearly as big as I was expecting.

I didn't see that at all, not sure where you got that impression.

11) TV doesn't do our team justice. We have a very fast and physical team. Philly looked like they were running in molasses. Very true.

That's pretty much it. It was a great, great experience, and I hope to do it again in a couple of weeks. I'd love to do the same, but even if it is an option, I wouldn't be able to make it (no vacation time).

- Stadium was amazing.

- It was extremely loud

- The crowd there was awesome and all the people were fun to be around.

- I had an absolute blast.

- The Landry Statue was cool and I loved where they put it.

- The video screens are amazing.

Thanks guys for posting your observations, especially since you all made long treks to get there.

Re: the team's mentality. Some of the articles I've seen and posted, they'd moved on to Minny by the time the media arrived in the lockerrooms. I don't think we have to worry about their focus at all.

Are you kidding? This team is as motivated as any Cowboys team I have ever seen.

I am worried about Peterson, Favre, Allen... motivation is the least of my concerns.

You complain about the low attendance (93,000), yet you advise not to get a party pass. The stadium only seats a little over 80,000.

How do you increase the attendance without the party passes?

I'm glad it finally came up, I was wondering about the crowd. At home it seemed plenty loud, and one of the players was waving his towel to get the crowd going .

Weren't the Cowboys going to limit the number of party passes sold?

with regards to parking, park by the ballpark. you can find spots for 10 or 15 bucks and after game traffic is minimal. so you have to walk 15 minutes. big deal. it's a fun walk through all the tailgaters.

I disagree about the noise. that place was blistering last night. my only complaint is the cowboys fans make far too much noise when we have the ball....but even that is getting better.

best time to go to the bathroom is in the middle of a quarter right after the visiting team punts the ball away. most people don't want to miss an offensive play. you can get out and back to your seat before the commercial break is over.

i agree about the party passes though. I would never do it.

Thanks WG! The only reason why I made that comment is because the sideline was celebrating late in the 4th. They, players & coaches, were pulling imaginary monkeys off each other's back. I'm also concerned about the penalties late in the game, and the Jenkins blunder on the INT.

Probably not a big deal, but just my general observation.
