Not sure how big a fan I am of this, but I suppose if he comes cheap he might be worth looking into. Granted he is a Cy Young winner, but having a ERA over 3 in the NL (no DH) to win a Cy Young just doesn't impress me all that much. 3.10 ERA in the AL I could at least somewhat understand. Not in the crappy NL though.

Its one of the moves that they like to do. Low risk. High reward. Im all for it but recently his fastball was only clocked in the mid 80s so not sure its going to work.

Yeah, he topped out at 82 at his scout workout last month. He hasn't pitched in 2 years.

Also, he's a sinkerball artist, and when guys like that aren't right, its like batting practice. Look at Carl Pavano, he was terrible for a while because he was hurt and he couldn't get that good sink on the ball anymore.

I suppose the same thing could happen to Webb, but it seems like his shoulder is shot.

2010:

NL ERA: 4.03
AL ERA: 4.14

Baseball is not nyc's strong suit...

Sure seems that way. The numbers for 2006 (the year he won the Cy):

NL ERA: 4.49
AL ERA: 4.56

To be fair, though, 2006 was a bit of an odd year - Oswalt led the NL with a 2.98 ERA, the highest NL-leading number since 1961.

Yeah, and it's kind of presumptive to decide that a guy is no good because he won the Cy Young with a 3.1 ERA.

The NL has weak*** hitters.

Ask anyone who knows anything, pitching in the AL is far more difficult that pitching in the weak*** NL.

Move along troll.

"Anyone who knows anything"

Nice source. Guess I'll just have to take your word for it.

By the way OPS for the last 4 years, by league:

AL: .734, .764, .756, .761
NL: .723, .739, .744, .757

But that didn't convince me that you weren't right, so I have a call into "someone that knows something", I'll let you know what he says.

Ehh...I'd rather give Derek Holland the chance to claim that spot in the rotation. We need another lefty in there

Heard john rhadigan talking about this tonight and he was in contact with jon daniels today.

apparently he wants to pitch in texas, daniels wants to do a 1 year deal with an option but he only wants to do 1 year.

and as far as his health goes, the rangers will know better than anyone Dr.Meister the team doctor did his surgery and has been in contact with him.

Rhadigan said what he was told was that he will either sign here by the end of tomorrow or wont sign here at all.

The Ballpark isn't pitcher friendly...

These schmucks need to weigh out what is more important... wins or money...

The current crop isn't going to storm the HoF with their stats... take the money...

False, the game is played completely differently because in the AL the pitcher doesn't have to hit. There's a premium on bats in the AL, and on middle relief pitching in the NL.

The San Francisco Giants would like to say hello about that pitching thing.

I know how the game is played. I also know that there is a DH in AL which the NL doesn't have. Now, who is generally a better hitter a DH or a weak hitting pitcher?

btw, I never said pitching sucks in the NL, I said they face weaker hitting. (Not facing a DH being a major part of that)
