If RB Devon Achane is still available late in the 2nd round when the Cowboys pick at #58th overall pick, should the Cowboys pick up this little speedy Mighty Mouse?

Devon Achane: 5'8", 188 lbs, 4.32 40 tike.

What say you?

No, they should draft Robinson in the 1st,or Gibbs in the 2nd, or Spears, or Miller, or Charbonnet, or Bigsby, or Abanikanda, or Johnson.

I know they have big interest with him as they talked with him at the combine and gave him a private workout. Yes, more of a homerun, speed option, but a real good one, who would allow the team to move on from Pollard next season.

He’s light but a tough runner. Can’t go wrong with Abandikanda or Achane in the 2nd to let pollard hit FA in 2024.

grey from OU is the same guy with better pass blocking and you can get him a few rounds later.

I watched all of the games Grey played at OU. Electric runner, lots of fun to watch. He didn't break many tackles his junior year, but got better as his senior year progressed. Wouldn't hate it if he landed in Dallas, but I think he would be a better fit for a team that can get him in open space with the passing game.

Good football player, bad fit here IMO.

Achane's game is actually a lot like Tony Pollard... both straight-linish home run hitters who run tougher than they get credit for. The difference is that TP is 20 pounds heavier than him. So Pollard is a very credible inside runner in the pros. Achane is willing to run inside, but at a buck eighty-eight, it's always going to be an uphill battle for him.

Ideally, we'd like an inside runner to complement Pollard and take some hits off him in those more physical situations. And at his size, Achane isn't taking a lot of hits off anybody.

There's sort of a fun logic to backing up Pollard with another small Pollard and just permanently having that big play threat on the field. But if we hit 3rd and 2, and Pollard's not out there, then we're pretty much screwed.

IMO, Achane needs to go to a wide-zone team rushing team like the Rams or Niners. Just a place where he can float outside, put his foot in the ground, then explode upfield. And those McVay, Shanahan style teams always run the type of committee he'll need.

I agree. He's undersized and I believe we'll need a bigger RB that can run between the tackles.

Bijon, Gibbs, Charbonet, Bigsby, Miller, Evans are the RBs I want. Need to take a closer look at Spears, Johnson, and McBride.

if you’re going to use a second on a RB, I’ll take Spears please. If you want to move up in the second for a RB, I’ll take Gibbs.

Both of those guys are way more instinctive runners than Achane with much better vision, and Gibbs is nearly as fast. Plus, both catch the ball like WR’s.

I’m just not big on fast guys who aren’t natural RB’s.

yeah i agree with you he needs open spaces. but with us going to more of a wco i think he could be a fit. him in a zone running scheme with the cut back to open space that’s dangerous. not to mention swing passes out of the back field. i think he’s going to be a damion williams type of back from ou. barely thought of at the school but goes on to win super bowls and is a consistent runner in nfl

Achane could be the guy that gets drafted out of the first and ends up being better than all these guys imo.
