RBs % of rushes with 10 plus yards last season

Yeah Rico had a better year than people realize. It’ll be interesting to see if Dallas brings him back or looks for fresh legs. I believe James Connor just signed an extension with Arizona so he’s probably not an option.

Post this coz two names to keep an on........Rico and James Conner. Honestly, I'm a bit surprised Rico is nearly top 10 on this list. Spotrac puts his market value at $6.2M. We could resign him and pair him with a day-3 RB. Of course Conners has connections to the new OC.

I think Rico actually has talent that a lot of people don't want to acknowledge. I think he'd be great paired with a playmaker like TreyVon Henderson or [name another RB here]. That said, $6M per season may be too rich for my blood.

Why?

A quick search came back with (not sure I agree, seems high to me)
  • Mid-tier RBs: Typically occupy around 10-15% of a team's cap space.
Rico around $6M & the rest of the RB group on rookie or low veteran salaries would probably be no more than $10. For round numbers, CAP for 2025 is $280M so $10M would only be 3.5%. 5% would be $14M. Seems like any team should be able to field a pretty solid group for $14M.

I love the career Connor's has put together ... but this team needs to be looking for youth & upside.
Oh I agree, it just that we will likely sign at least one outside vet if Rico walks. But as Thunderpimp mentioned above he's probably not an option w/o giving up a draft pick.

Yeah I dont understand that either. If Rico is a RB you like, even in a tandem $6M isnt a ton of money for a league with a cap approaching $300M. This is similar thinking that led to the Cowboys not willing to go over $4M for a RB last year and settled for Zeke. If $6M is too much money, which is backup money for some positions, your probably dont love Rico all that much.

I'd give him a 2 year/$12M deal in a heartbeat and pair him with a RB from the draft.

if we can resign rico for 7m average for 3 years at 21m. we can look at DL round 1&2. would really help us in the draft. draft a RB in round 3 - 5

Any team not willing to spend $10-14M on their RB group seems questionable. Every position group should have a % of CAP that is reasonable and allows you to field a competitive team. 5% or less for roughly half your offense seems very CAP friendly and allows you to go over budget a little elsewhere.
