since its obvious that Wade will probably return as HC/DC (hes earned it) what do yall think happens with Garrett.....will he stay on as OC or jump on the next HC job that comes his way?......id really hate to lose him i still believe he will be a good HC one day ..wonder if Jerry throws the $ at him again

Bite your tongue.

Him and his brother and the rest of the staff better stay here.

We lose Garrett and I will be very ticked off.

It could be a problem retaing Garrett if Jerry decides to grant Wade another term at the helm.HC oppurtunities can be there for you one day and then gone the next,so it would be hard for Jason to turn down an oppurtunity.I think Jason saw how quick the NFL winds can change from one year to the next first hand.At the end of the 2007 season he was recruited to be a HC and then after the 2008 season his stock took a bit of a hit.

Another thing to consider if Garrett were to leave is how much of the offensive staff would he raid when he left? How would his departure affect Romo?

I'm sure Jerry is going to have to make a tough decision and hopefully he will make the right one.

Garrett is coaching better but he still gets pass happy every once in awhile. I've been a massive Garrett-hater but maybe Norv taught him something in that SD whooping of us. We'll see. I love Wade though and his ability to call defense (which is incredibly difficult in this league) is phenomenal.

He'll lose out on all the opportunities because he'll be coaching through February.

It's a passing league and we're a passing team. Our best offensive players are Romo, Witten and Austin, and our line is better in pass protection than run protection. Our running game is the offense's most inconsistent aspect.

I understand running the rock is a steadfast football tradition, but I'll respectfully disagree that Garrett is too pass happy. Now, that's not to say he's always perfect. Without a time there are limited instances where I think he ignored the running game. But it's not a problem or a trend, but the occasional hiccup IMO. It can be said of every play caller I'm sure.

I could live with that.

You have to think about loyalty and opportunity at the same time, IMO.

Jason played for us.

His father is a scout for us.

His brother is a coach for us.

Jerry has promised him the job (allegedly) once Wade retires.

Jason would then be in a powerful position as HC and almost co-GM with Jerry and Stephen of the best team in pro football.

I honestly think he waits for the Cowboys job even if we win the Super Bowl. I don't think he is in a big hurry to jump at a bad job opportunity like that Rams gig he turned down.

Garrett seems to have gotten the hang of balancing run and pass in the last month or so. He isn't giving up on the run when it gets stuffed once or twice and he's also gotten away from running those goofy strange plays in the red zone. Compared to the beginning of the season, I've been finding it more difficult to predict whether our offense will run or pass. This has made our running and passing more effective. I still wish we would play action a bit more.

I think there are times when we have been a bit too "pass happy" as well although I don't think it is nearly as often as his detractors would imply. Our strengths presently are in throwing the ball although we can run the ball fairly well, too. We are meant to be a balanced pass-run sort of philosophy.

The times when Garrett has gotten into trouble are when he almost totally abandons the run in games where we are trailing by less than 10 points with lots of time on the clock. I think he has gotten us into trouble because our OL almost depends on the threat of the draw to aid them in pass protection. Flo in particular needs this against speed rushers.

He will hopefully learn more about game management as time goes on. I have been somewhat unhappy with the team's inability to score more points over the last half of the season but I hope it is just one of those things where some luck has gone against us + a history of bad penalties in the red zone this year.

I am hopeful that next year this offense will really turn the corner and put up close to 500 points and live up to its potential. I think things will be shaken up more with Felix as the #1 RB. Austin will be the #1 WR from the get-go. I think #2 WR will be an open competition. I look for lots of 2-TE and 2-WR sets next year - even more than this year as Bennett and Phillips mature into their roles. The OL will be better next year due to the presence of Free and another year of training from Hudson Houck. I also hope we will see even more RB involvement in the passing game - especially screens to take the starch out of the DL's pass rush and put the brakes on some of the blitzes. Lastly, I think Romo is going to go to a whole new level next year - maybe throw for 40 TDs.

Hey, he surprised me today and called a pass play on 3rd and 2. I was about to be pissed for not making a 1st on the run, and poof we have a 1st down, way down the field. Pleasantly surprised!

Yeah, it's totally awesome how much better he's gotten as a coordinator three of the last four weeks.

All the other coaches are under contract for next year, so unless Garrett takes a HC job, he and everybody else will be back next year.

I dont think Garrett is going anywhere, he is virtually co-head coach as it is right now. He already makes HC money at $3 mill yr and presumably Jerry has already promised him the HC job after Wade leaves.

So I highly doubt he would turn all that down to be HC of some scrub team.

It wouldn't surprise me if he ended up as a HC somewhere this offseason. I'd like everyone to return though.

I think we've already seen that he's willing to take a HC job if one opens up, he was ready to take the Rams job till the deal fell through and they went for Spags. He stayed the year before that because he got a promotion and a huge raise, along with (I'm sure) some loyalty to the club, but I think if he gets a decent enough offer, he'll take it.

I think Jerry would like to have him back, though. Especially if we find success in the post season after putting the December jinx to rest finally.

Garrett is guaranteed the job once Wade leaves/retires. I doubt he's going to go anywhere else, especially if we have postseason success.

really dont care if garrett is gone

hes done a better job of late but i havent forgotten his questionable playing calling throughout his tenure just because weve played well of late

if he goes we can replace him with any decent coordinator with the talent we have on offense and yield a productive unit. probably a more consistent one with less head scratching plays
