If both of those players somehow slid to Dallas at 22, which would you prefer and why?

Both are pretty excellent players. It's easy for me to say Sidney Rice will be a good player because it's easy to tell a WR is good. The man simply catches everything. Nelson also "looks" like he will be good, he made a ton of plays. But who knows how he actually grades out. Maybe he doesn't do something well that I don't know about.

Either way I would be delighted to have either player but Nelson might fill a bigger need.

I watched a lot of Florida games last year. It is hard to tell if Nelson is really that good with the front 7 talent Florida had. Is he playing the ball extremely well or was the QB pressure, the main reason for their good coverage?
The Ohio St. game is the only one that really stood out, but T.Smith had zero protection.

I would take Reggie Nelson because I think he grades higher, he would be a better value than Rice, IMO. I wouldn't be upset with either at this point though.

It's a tough decision for sure....Nelson is a heckuva player, but Pat Watkins can develop into a quality free safety also. Adding Nelson would certainly impede Watkins development. I also think it's about time Dallas starts addressing the offensive side of the ball in the draft. With Owens and Glenn each at 34 this year, Rice could certainly come in behind those guys and develop for a year and step into a starting role in '08. I know Nelson would fill an immediate need but I would lean to Rice at this point.

If Sidney Rice "slides" to us at 22?????

He is NOT going in the first round. So I'm about 100% that he will "slide" to us at #22. And at #22, he is a crappy pick.

Rice is anywhere from the 5-7th WR. 5 WRs aren't going in round 1.

Conversely, Nelson is a potential top 10 pick who certainly will not "slide" to #22. If he does, we jump all over him in a heartbeat.

Rice is a WR under Steve Spurriur, last time i talked to someone on this board, they said Steve has produced hype filled WR because of his fun-n-gun offense

I hate this FS talk, I don't think nor want to go FS in the first round. WR is where we should be looking

Name a 6'4 receiver Spurrier has produced??? Sidney was already there when steve took over..

Reche Caldwell, Taylor Jacobs, Jaquez Green, Riddiel Anthony, Jabar Gaffney, Ike Hilliards are Steve Spurrier type receivers.

Sidney is a playmaker than can run and catch. Is he worth a pick at 22? Maybe.. Maybe not. But he will go in the first round.

Name a Receiver that has ever came from Spurrier from college and made something in the pros?

How do you figure?

He is AT BEST the number 5 WR.

Johnson, Ginn, Jarrett, Bowe are all ahead of him.

Meachum is too, in my opinion. That would leave him as the #6 WR.

Do you really think there will be 6 WRs taken this year in round 1?

I don't.

what kind of numbers did reggie nelson put up in college? what does he rank out of the other safeties coming out?

What makes you say that? Just projections, or is there something about Rice's game you don't like?

Nelson and Laron Landry are neck and neck for the #1 safety on the board. Some like Landry better and some like Nelson more.

Landry has the experience and has been ranked high for a long time. Nelson kind of exploded on the scene after going from junior college to Div I at Florida. Nelson has phenominal athleticism and has a knack for being around the ball and Landry has a great all-around game without any glaring weaknesses.

Either would be a great pick, IMO.

Looking at what happened to us last year, i can't help but to forget about WR and start thinking about FS. We have some big problems on defense and we must fix them. Reggie Nelson is a no brainer.

If he's there... I think so too. Unless we are dead set on moving Henry to FS and want to draft a corner.

Frankly, I'd like to see us get a good corner in FA (and a guard) and move Henry to FS. That frees up our first rounder to go to either pass rusher or WR.

The problem with that though is that after Clements there really isn't a whole lot at CB in free agency. So, a more reasonable hope is to get a guard in FA and go either CB, FS, pass rusher, or WR in the draft.

I dont think six will go in first round. But...

Sidney Rice isn't that much different than Dwayne Jarrett. Same height and Sidney is more athletic. Could have played on the gamecocks basketball team. If he didnt tear his knee out his freshman year, he would have been higher on many boards..

tough one but i would go with Reggie Nelson just cause the guy is a flatout playmaker that i believe will have an immediate impact with whoever picks him. Rice would be a year or two before he had an impact for us cause of the receivers we have in front of him even though they are aging...
