Difference in philosophies. Roseman wheels and deals. The Joneses keep it cheap when bringing in outside players. We did trade for Hankins last year before the deadline, but we only switched picks with the Raiders and he was only making $1.3 million. The Cooks and Gilmore trades actually surprised me since we had to pay them more than just the bare minimum.
Why make all these flashy signings so you can be 10-2, when you can do next to nothing and still be 9-3?

Well, first there was the Walker deal, but that was just to kick things off. Haley and Deion were enough. When is the last time Jones did anything like that though? So either he thinks we're 1-2 players away but wants to be cheap, or he doesn't think we're 1-2 players away so doesn't want to make an expensive trade/move.

They did a lot of dealin' during our slack years, but Jerry treated the draft like an afterthought. Then, when we finally got serious about the draft during the Parcells years, he decided to start playing it conservative in free agency because of couple of big deals were poor ones.
