First and foremost I apologize if this has already been posted. Second, I know this doesn't belong in the fan zone but I know many people wondered why we didn't sign this guy, the following explains it pretty well.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Darren Sharper had limited market value as a free agent due to offseason microfracture surgery.
This explains quite a bit, and means that Sharper is no sure thing to be ready for Opening Day. The procedure, believed to have taken place in early March, was originally announced as an arthroscopic surgery -- much less serious than microfracture. A 34-year-old defensive back coming off this operation figures to lose at least some range. The Saints may need to give 2009 first-round pick Malcolm Jenkins reps at free safety, after all. May. 3 - 7:03 pm et

Good job staying away from this guy, that procedure is no joke..

I didnt want him before this news broke and I dam sure dont want him now. Its going to be fun watching all the guys that have posted how we have to have this guy, regardless of mony or contract lenght, backtrack now.

This just proves the point that maybe Jerry and Steven actually know more than the average fan.

If that's true I don't see how he will be able to play this season. Stephen Hodge still isn't ready and he had his last year.

NO thanks! I didn't know it was microfracture surgery... That's the death nail for football players with the exception of QBs.

Microfracture spells trouble for a 24 year old. For a 34 year old? Can't see how he plays at a high level again.

The was a reason he hasn't signed before today. Now we all know why.

I'm so glad that he finally signed with someone so that we could stop this "Sharper-to-Dallas" nonsense.

Where are all those CZ experts who claimed Jones was an idiot because he didnt open up the bank account for Sharper now?
