Richards / Bass are better than Waletzko / Farniok

The Cowboys are admittedly very light on OL right now, and I expect a move or two to still be made, but fans should be very excited about Asim Richards and TJ Bass

I think we all hoped Farniok and Waletzko would cement themselves over time, but they just never really improved. Richards and Bass are better than both of those guys RIGHT NOW, and it’s not really that close.

I will not be surprised if they just plug in Richards if (when) Tyron goes down, and I think Bass will impress at either Guard spot (he played preseason at RG, but college at LG) if given the chance. I hope they both get a full season to bulk up. You might be looking at 2 future starters on this line, and you got one in the 5th round and the other in UDFA!

Special mention: Bostick might become your swing tackle next year if he continues to improve. He looked solid in the preseason.

Both had some impressive preseason games and stood out while other guys that have been here struggled.

Farniok had a dissapointing camp

I thought Waletzko looked good last year in the glimpses we got of him at left tackle. I don't know if the move to right tackle messed him up or if he just got exposed some. He's a young player, though, from a small school so we'll see what happens with him over the next year.

Nothing wrong with keeping Asim Richards and TJ Bass. Both look solid as backup Tackle and Guard. The problem is we currently have no backup Center. Should have kept Farniok since he played well this preseason the times he was allowed to play Center.

That did certainly seem to be the case, the rookies outplaying the 2nd/3rd year guys along the OL this camp. That’s exciting, but the part that kinda makes me hesitate is I remember being similarly excited for Farniok/Waletzko their first preseasons. Mid/late round and UDFA o-line continued development seems to be a bit of a crapshoot.

Couldn't agree more with you on this. Ball also not one of my faves, but he will be out all year anyway. Bostick is the dark horse, if Dallas hits on him it was quite a successful offseason getting three future starters on the OL, with two UDFA.
To go with youngsters Tyler and Steele.

backup C is the issue now.
