Why care what he -- or any writer -- thinks about the Cowboys? Frankly, he doesn't get paid to be a Cowboys fan. He could be like John McClain in Houston who is the Chronicle's "NFL writer," but openly pulls for the Texans.

'eh, it's a writers job to say things to get attention. it's a fans job to agree or disagree. from there any writer who doesn't like "your" team is usually a hack and not worth a damn.

No its not that at all, and I dont have a fragile ego but thanks...

It has been a big discussion around the message boards for a while because gosselin absolutely refuses to say positive things about the team, and I dont need him to but it is ironic and his pick of the titans yesterday summed it up pretty clearly to me...

Not sure where you live, but gosselin is on the radio here in Dallas all the time and he gets annoying with his negative nature if the cowboys were a horrible team and he dogged them that is fine, but right now I dont think we are horrible so his constant negative critiscm of everything the team does gets old.

So I just thought I would put it out there that he picked the titans and how he is on with norm tomorrow morning and I bet there is no way he brings up the fact that he picked the titans, but I guarantee you he will say how he picked the pats or ravens. That is where my amusement comes in.

Any journalist's job is to report the news in an objective, balanced, and fair manner. However, as in any profession, there are a lot of journalists who use their jobs to advance their own personal agenda, which, of course, is unprofessional.

It's clear that Gosselin has a negative bias towards the Cowboys and that bias is reflected in his writing. The power the reader has is to turn a blind eye toward such a lack of professionalism.

It's also a problem with certain sports analysts such as Aikman who goes out of his way to express a negative perspective on the Cowboys. I think he does it in an attempt to appear neutral because of his ties to the Cowboys but he fails utterly. That's why I prefer Darryl Johnston as an analyst because he does his best to be neutral and objective.

Anyway, interesting discussion.

I am not sure why we should care what Goose has to say in Regular season. Goose is great at draft time, one of the best perhaps i.e. rankings or where the players might go ( not his after draft rankings of teams, which I find somewhat technical instead of really any good insight there). But come regular season, as far as cowboys is concerned, he doesn't cover them nor does he has any insight on them.

I think Goose goes out of his way to maintain that he doesn't have a pro-Cowboy bias so he can argue credibly for Cowboy players when it comes time for HOF selection.

I personally am not ready to sing the praises of the Boys just because they beat a Commanders team without Clinton Portis at home and a 0-3 team starting a very green rookie quarterback.

Let's beat someone first in their backyard before we start anointing the Boyz one of the best teams in the NFC East. Philadelphia is a start. NY Giants will be a measuring stick as well the Panthers.

Maybe you guys need to learn more about journalism.

If a person is offering predictions, He's offering his opinion!!!

A part of journalism is to offer opinions. It is not to present both sides objectively. That's only in news writing. Hence, if you read an account of a game, that should be objective reporting. If you see an article where someone is giving his opinion, that's a column or commentary.

As for Aikman having a bias against the Cowboys, could it be that you interpret any negative comment about the Boyz, even though true, as bias because you're bias? Hhhmmmm!

Troy Aikman is accurate in his assessment of the Cowboys, IMO. I don't detect a bias. I think fans, however, want him to gush over the Cowboys because he's a former Cowboy. Who do you want him to be like, Joe Theismann?
