Seals-Jones commits to Texas

Updated: February 22, 2012, 2:01 PM ET

Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson had the opportunity to go to Texas when he came out of Sealy (Texas) High School in late 1970s but opted against the Longhorns.

His cousin won't do the same.

Ricky Seals-Jones, an elite and versatile athlete who also hails from Sealy, gave the Longhorns his verbal commitment at his high school on Wednesday afternoon.

Not surprising, he's been talking about going to Texas since his sophomore season. Only other team that was ever even a consideration for him was LSU.

He and Derrick Griffin will be two of the best receiver prospects to ever come out of Texas IMO. Both 6'5"-6'6" monsters with tremendous leaping ability.

Texas always gets these high profile recruits...Not alot of them have been working out lately. Especially at WR.

Mike Davis from Dallas and Darius White from Fort Worth. I thought those two guys were going to explode at Texas. Whats up with those guys?

I don't think it would qualify at present as a "surprise" for ANY 2013 recruit to qualify given that they currently have 18 months to get their business in order before enrolling.

darius white was a diva nutcase. mike davis was really hurt by the poor qb play last year but he will be back this year.

but you're right a lot of high profile recruits flame out at UT. the previous administration were not developing players and some of it is on the players for becoming victims of 6th street and the huge party scene in austin.

there is a reason he only has 4 offers. his grades are terrible. it's not abnormal for some kids to decide in their junior year that they will have to go juco. One of the top receivers in the state in 2013, Gary Moore out of Clarksville has already made that choice.

Gary Moore doesnt have a single D-1 offer, isnt on ANY published state or national rank list and reportedly failed every single class he took last semester. He wouldnt be eligible to play if the HS season started today. Griffin failed one class last semester failed a couple sections on the standardized state tests. He's a C student who will have to work to pass the TAKS or whatever it's called these days, but not some window-licking ******. Hell, he has already regained his eligibility by posting all passing grades thus far this semester and is playing basketball.
