His intelligence on the field was vastly underrated. Morgan's acquisition put the Big Red Machine over the top. He does not get the credit and recognition that he deserves as being a phenomenal all around player. I'm not sure that he was a greater player than Eddie Collins or perhaps even Roberto Alomar, but he's definitely in the conversation.
I did have a chance to meet and work with Morgan back in 1992, and I honestly cannot say that it was a positive experience, but in no way does that diminish his greatness. RIP.
