Just saw that actress Louise Fletcher, who played Nurse Ratched in the film One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, has died at her home in France. Her agent confirmed her death, but did not provide a cause of death.

Deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Saw the movie and loved it.

I remember that when she won the Oscar for her performance, she gave her acceptance speech in sign language, because both of her parents were deaf. Very poignant moment.

She's done much more than One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but I can't see her without thinking of that. I'm sure she was a very nice woman, and the fact that I can't actually picture that is a testament to her incredible acting ability.

R.I.P., Ms. Fletcher

She was also Kai Winn on Star Trek Deep Space 9. She did a great job in the role. RIP, Louise Fletcher.

According to www.imdb.com, she did 14 episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Yes she did, and she her character was no more likeable than that of Nurse Ratched...She was perfect for the role. (I mean that in a good way.) Was it really only 14 episodes? It seemed like more.

Wow, I just looked up her filmography...She was a busy actress!!

She sure was. Her acting career started in the 1950s.

She was frustrated with how "evil" her character was portrayed in "One Flew". Even her hair was fixed so that it had the appearance of "horns" (like the devil).

While others cast members were making merry on/around the set she was treated pretty much like her character.

One day she had enough and marched onto the set in just her underwear.

Still my favorite movie of all time. Incredible acting by so many people. Chris Lloyd, Nicholson, Danny devito, Chief, and Fletcher. Great writing and directing. RIP Nurse Ratchet..
