Romo is Important-Ware is Critical

Many people are pointing at Romo as the person who needs most to step up tonight. I would argue that Ware is as important, if not more in order to win this game.

Over the last three years:

Ware in 6 games vs. Giants - 3.5 sacks in six games.
Ware in 41 games vs rest of league-42.5 sacks

The Giants have neutralized Ware for the most part allowing Eli the extra second or two to find open receivers and shredding the secondary. If Ware is an elite player, than he needs to step up tonight and show he is just that. Racking up three sacks in blowouts and mismatches is nice and good, but doing it against the SB champ, division rival and team that has owned you would do far more to enhance his image in my opinion.

Just, No

Nobody on this team means more than Romo or comes close. Period

I would agree to some extent but I'd also point out that the idea that the Giants were the biggest part of neutralizing him isn't as accurate.

A lot of the reason he hasn't gotten to Eli as much as we'd all like is the poor secondary play of the Cowboys during this stretch. Especially in the two games last year.

The Giants do a decent enough job at doing whatever they can to keep him away from Eli but the fact that Eli is able to more often than not simply get rid of the ball in 2 seconds or just throw up a prayer and have it caught against an awful secondary has been the bigger issue.

The improved secondary play I do believe will help Ware quite a bit this year, specifically against the Giants.

I'm not worried about Romo and Ware stepping it up. I'm just hoping these guys do: Phillips, Spencer, Costa, Clairborne, Carter and Brent/Lissamore.

Agreed. It's not even close.

I don't necessarily agree with your conclusion but this is a great post. I didn't realize how successful they have been in minimizing Ware's impact on the game. Hopefully with their injuries at tackle, Ware can do some serious damage

Well Romo put up 32 and they still lost-so not sure how accurate that is.

Not much Ware could do when he only had 2 seconds before Eli threw the ball. This year that will change significantly.

The OP has a point.

Romo (vs the giants specifically) has outplayed Ware..Romo ist going to do much better than his 350 yard 4 TD performance he had vs NY last year...and we still lost.

Ware needs to step His game up.

Again! VS THE GIANTS! Not saying Ware didn't play well all of last season.

Romo consistently plays well vs NY and we consistently lose

The problem is that no matter how much Ware steps up his game, if the CB's don't cover for at least a couple of seconds Ware does not have much of a chance.

Ware is not the key to this game, the CB's are!

Ware needs help. NT has to collapse the pocket so Eli does'nt pick us apart. i.e. Osi+Tuck+JPP

Call it however you want. Ware needs more sacks.

And so do the other Pass rushers

Also depends on how many times Ware gets tackled getting to Eli.

I think EVERY SINGLE PLAYER is important to win this game. And two aren't going to be playing. Two more are banged up at WR. As well as the RB..

Geeze, it's not even the first game and look at the injuries. :bang2:

But, I am praying they come into NY today and take care of business.

And I am also hoping the OL and DL's bring the nasty this year. Not enough nasty last year.
