Just an update...we all know much of this has almost as much to do with opportunity as it does with skill, but here are the total numbers so far.

Name Rush Yds Rec Yds Total Yds TDs
M Forte 304 105 409 2
C Johnson 276 51 327 1
D McFadden 252 26 278 1
S Salton 159 14 173 1
K Smith 102 53 155 1
F Jones 148 3 151 2 (w/ KR)
J Stewart 145 0 145 3
T Hightower 60 79 139 2
J Charles 73 45 118 0
R Rice 85 19 104 0
R Mendenhall 28 11 39 0
T Choice 26 2 28 0

----------------------------------------------------------------

In case you are curious Felix, CJ, and DMC lead all rookies in average yards per touch and of course felix is the leading Kick retruner so far.

You need to add total yards, not just rushing yards. Felix Wins!

How does Felix only have 3 yards receiving?? We need to get him some more reps.

I definitely agree, you have to get him the rock as much as possible because he's so dynamic it's scary.

When the game necessitates it, he will get the ball. We have three wins in three games. There is no reason to force feed anything. Just be happy that we have this dynamic new dimension to add to our offense.

I keep thinking back to how the Giants were able to stifle most aspects of our offense in last year's playoff game and Felix gives us another incredible option we simply didn't have last year. We needed one more dynamic playmaker for this offense and boy howdy, did we find it.

Where is his return yards then? I said TOTAL yards, not just rushing and receiving.

So, add 316 to his totals. 148 rushing, 3 receiving and 316 return yards along with 3 TDs. Thats 467 total yards.

I hear ya nyc. No doubt Felix would be winning then (even without the 98 yarder) because he is the only one that regularly returns kicks....which means each return equals a free 20+ yards. So 4-5 returns a game = a free 100+ yards. If you did it that way, even average KRs would ave more yards than stud RBs.

Having said that, he does deserve huge credit for his returns so far. Even without the huge TD run he would have a great average.

I thought this was about comparing running back draft picks. Value is value no matter where it is placed.

It wasn't comparing "value". I was just giving an update on the numbers. i do have a column (not included) that shows where each guy was picked. Hey, for sure, the Felix pick is looking great right now. My guess is however, that 4-5 other teams think they got the best back for their buck too....and we all know it's way too early to draw conclusions...maybe a few years from now.

I'll try to post this each week or two...but I'll let everyone else decide who actually got the best value.

Thanks

He would have had more yards receiving last night on one screen pass, but it looked like he stepped on the foot of one of the OL and slipped down. That was who Romo was throwing to in the flat, but instead got called for intentional grounding. I think Bigg was out in front, so he probably would have gotten a big chunk of yardage there, too. :(

Yep. Terrible grounding call too.

Absolutely awful. How do the refs make that call? Miscommunications on routes happen like that every game. I've never seen intentional grounding called for one.

Well, my bad... I didn't get during the game that it was Felix slipping down. I thought he expected Miles to run an out route.

I didn't see that Felix had fallen down on that play. Good catch. I thought it was a legitimate grounding call.

I thought they were both awful calls. Just cause a WR runs the wrong route, doesn't mean the QB was intentionally grounding it to avoid a sack.

And what really gets me is that the refs had to convene for 5 minutes before dropping the flag... I can't remember which one that was on... hell it may have been both. But I know they did that once.

There were two grounding penalties. The first was due to Felix slipping on a cut. Romo caught it in time to pull the ball back, then the rush made him throw to nobody in the flat. Legitimate grounding.

The second call was absolutely criminal on what looked like a standard cross up. If that's grounding, then Tavaris Jackson grounds it every time. The refs looked at the pressure and the situation in the game and assumed he was dumping it. Fact is, Romo often delivers under pressure without looking directly at the receiver. Horrid call.
