Which is fine, lock him up asap. With the amount of cap coming off the books, it shouldn't be a problem.
I would take a wait and see approach for now it is evident he cannot play edge 90% of the defensive snaps without wearing down by seasons end. I really do not want them to pay him 25m AAV when he is 50/50 off ball LB half way through the contract.

With Trevon Diggs becoming a free agent in 2024 (cb franchise tag around $18M; top 5 paid nfl cb's average $19M-$21M/year), CeeDee Lamb's 5th year option due in 2024 ($13M-$14M).....and Parsons 5th year option due in 2025....Dallas has some serious contract decisions on their hands in the next few seasons.

That all said, and with notable NFL injuries this season which is impacting player career lengths, do not be surprised if Parsons seriously looks at a holdout a few years PRIOR to his 2025 5th year option to provide himself financial security.

Remember, Jerry & Co. set that precedent in 2019 when Zeke held out with 2 years remaining on his original contract.

I'd rather have two solid CBs than one excellent CB (Diggs) and a JAG (the rest) on the other side.

If Parsons and his agent want edge rusher money, best say goodbye to #11.

I agree, I think you get more out of him as a LB that can blitz.

Parsons is an exceptional player. We have him under control for five years plus at least one franchise tag. After year 4 I would quietly discuss the market value of a player like Parsons.

If it’s 3 FRP’s I do that deal.

Pros:

1. If he gets hurt is he the same player?

2. Keeps the cap healthy.

3. Leverages volume of players under long term contracts for reasonable price.

4. Second contract players seldom live up to what you pay for them.

5. He is a high injury risk.

Cons:

1. He may currently be the best NFL defensive player.

2. He’s young.

3. He may have upside.

4. The fans are going to kill you for making that trade.

Parsons will be the highest paid defensive player in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. He will have two first team All-Pros in two seasons. How many players have done that.

Micah is somewhere smiling with a devilish grin:laugh:

No, if Parsons was a free agent tomorrow, he would get double that.

Parsons is a pass rusher. RqS is an off ball LB.

Don't believe the morons that claim Parsons lost it based on the past 6 games...Quinn had gone to max run defense and abandoned schemed pressure.
