Ok.............so theres a possibility I have contracted roundworms. Heres the scoop: On Christmas day I was at my grandmas and my mom and I were petting this cat of hers. Well fast forward a couple of days and the cat regurgitated a bunch of roundworms. Now my aunt is freaking out and saying that my mom and I HAVE to get treated for worms because we surely got them from the cat.

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? How long would it take before we would experience the symptoms if we had gotten them? I looked up the symptoms and it appears to be stomach pain, weight loss, possibly bloody stool. I haven't experienced anything like that yet.

Unless you somehow ate cat poop, you're safe.

p.s. Your Grandmother can get a cheap dewormer from the vet called Drontal that will clear that right up. It's a good idea to re-treat in 2 weeks as well.

You won't get worms from petting a cat with worms... Unless you did more with the cat than you're letting on! :laugh2:

Can't hurt to check just to make sure, as long as its not that expensive.

:laugh2: This thread turned out great. I thought I had read that the main avenue for the transmission of worms was through their poop but I wasn't entirely sure if there could be eggs or what have you on the cats fur. Sounds like I shouldn't worry and just wait and see if I start having symptoms.
