Seems like we are headed towards Tyron and Steele splitting reps at RT. It allows us to manage Tyron’s snaps and hopefully keep him healthy while letting Steele ease back into things. Can’t say I love it but I can see it coming.

We are headed towards Tyron-Tyler-Tyler-Zack-Terrance. This puts our best 5 OL on the field and puts each one in their best position of strength. For all the grief that McCarthy gets on this forum, he’s a good coach and will have the best combination starting week 1.

Actually they're looking to having tyron starting and Steele being the swing. Thatscwhat I got from jerry.

No, that's not happening, Steele will be the right tackle

Don't listen to what Jerry says
I think there is a strong chance that Tyron ends up starting at RT, but I agree with you completely that you cant put any stock in what Jerry says in March. Between Jerry, Stephen, and MM we can make absolutely any narrative we want. We wont know for a few months still just how crazy or smart these guys are. To be honest I would be shocked if they even have a true plan in place for the Oline just yet.

Folks. Go an watch Tyron at RT against Nick Bosa -- the defensive player of the year. Tyron held him in check and had him on the ground on several occasions. When healthy he is still a HOF level player. I like Steele and think he's good -- particulary in the run game but Tyron no one on this team can touch Tyron at tackle.

I really didn’t like the OL rotation they tried.

I get why they did it, but isn’t the OL about cohesiveness?

Then again, didn’t Coach send his plays with rotating guards at one point? I think he did but I could be wrong.

That would be a pretty great OL. Of course there's no way we'd ever have that line the whole season. Tyron probably gonna miss some games.

Have two of your biggest, heaviest players constantly running off and on the field during plays.......I don't think so.

1st we need to see who gets drafted
2nd we need to see who makes it through camp healthy.

As it sits now it would probably be tyler, new guy, biadesz, martin, tyron. Once steel is healthy mayby back to tyron and tyler on the left side or tyron as swing unless hes hurt.

Why wouldn't they have a plan in place yet with April a couple of days away? Do they sit there one day in the summer and say "okay, so what do we want to do with our OL?" Nonsense. You may not like the plan but they have a plan.

I think this is largely about a group of fans who vastly overrated career backup Terence Steele and can't stand the fact that Tyron Smith is just better. By a lot.

As of today, with Steele still in rehab. Tyron will be penciled in at RT.
The only question is, who is penciled in at LG. Farniok or Edoga.

Nothing major to be concerned over at this point. Just wait until the draft, then it may clear up the path. Well, as clear as it can be.
A long, very long way to go.

They will try out different combinations during OTA's, and as Steele gets back into shape, the will try some more. But don't expect that until TC, once / if. Steele gets off of PUP.
I am pretty sure he will start TC on PUP, they always do, it is what this team does.

I think they don't have a plan because so much is still to be decided. If they go into camp with their current Oline depth I have to believe all options are still on the table, including having Tyler Smith play G as that allows you to get the best 5 on the field. If there is an interior OL they like at 26 that changes things significantly. If Tyron Smith cant stay healthy that changes things. RIght now Steele's rehab seems to be on track for the best case scenario, one setback changes that though.

I'm sure they are discussing different options based on different scenarios that may happen, however sometimes the plan is just bring in players you like and let things figure itself out. Much like signing Jason Peters this past season. They didn't really have a plan for the guy, it was just sign him, see how Tyler Smith does, and figure it out as the season goes on.

I agree with you that a healthy Tyron Smith would be starting over a healthy Terrence Steele, I just think we have a long way to go to know if that is even worth a discussion at this point. Lets get through the draft, lets get through June, see where everyone is health wise, see what the roster looks like, then we can have a real discussion about the starting 5 on the oline.
