Tony Scheffler likely next out of Denver

4/14/2010 11:24:21 AM

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports Brandon Marshall is gone. And tight end Tony Scheffler may be following him out the Dove Valley doors. Scheffler, the Broncos’ top pass-catching tight end, is close to signing his restricted free-agent tender with the Broncos, a move that as the Marshall situation taught us is a formality step preceeding the team’s ability to trade him.

as per theredzone.org . . . .

I hear we are looking at HBacks as well this off-season. :)

Looks like they are doing an over-haul in Denver.

He's not a world-beater, but he isn't that bad. I mean, the few Bronco's games I've seen he's made plays.

Why unload him?

Wasn't he suspended as well last year?

McDaniel is getting rid of anyone who challenged him last year and I think Scheffler was one of them. It was amazing how they collapsed late because at midseason they looked like they were capable of making the playoffs.

Let's not forget he also ran off the defensive coordinator who made chicken salad out of chicken $#!* last year.

Pretty soon he'll be the only guy left in the building!

I think he has a lot of Eric Mangini in him. Smart as a whip, but lacking in people skills.

Sounds about right.

And we all see how well that's been working for Mangini so far.

I predicted that they'd be terrible last year and was really surprised that they didn't.

I'll have the same dire prediction for them this year too.

Especially the more McDaniels gets his hands on the team.

The problem with Mcdaniels is he think he's a bill belechick type, but has no skins on the wall. I'm all for discipline, but the word compromise just dosent sit well with him. I can't see him putting up with Dez Bryant.

Here's an update . . . .

Scheffler to sign Broncos tender, trade coming?

4/14/2010 3:02:25 PM

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports Broncos TE Tony Scheffler will sign his tender today, a transaction formality that transfers the Broncos' tight end from restricted free agency to the trading block.

Scheffler will sign his $1.176 million tender today with the understanding the Broncos need to control his rights before they can trade him.

The Broncos hope to get a third-round pick in return for Scheffler, whose 13.7 yards per catch tops all tight ends since he came into the league in 2006.
