I think we can all agree the Cowboys running game was awful this year. There were pretty much one dimensional most of the season. I like Pollard, but he was not the same this year. I like Dowdle but I don't see him as a #1 RB either.
I wonder how many one dimensional teams, or teams that cannot run the football have ever had success in the playoffs. How many QBs can be expected to throw 40 or 50 times and have success consistently.
Regardless of whether to not they retain Dak, they have to find a running game. If they go with a rookie QB, or Trey Lance, he is never going to succeed if the offense relies only on him to move the football. And even if they do retain Dak, how much better might he be if all the pressure is not on him?
I have no idea why the Cowboys were so bad running the ball this year. I think some is on Pollard and Dowdle, but you can see the holes Aaron Jones had to run through. You do not see those holes for Pollard and Dowdle.
To me, this is a bigger problem than Dak. The defense was a bigger problem than Dak.
