A few days ago, I did a 1.0 with no trades. This time, as promised, I'm doing a 1.0 with a trade. I limited myself to one trade. In this, I traded down with the Chiefs for their 32nd and their 64th (2nd round) overall picks. Here's how it turned out. I will show profiles of theirs (I might show some videos too, but I have to make sure the music is suitable for this board).
1. T'Vondre Swift NT Texas
https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/T'Vondre-Sweat-DL-Texas
6'4" 362 lbs
To me, he's a priority to bring to Dallas. With our run stopping issues and the slow development of Mazi, Sweat could be a massive run stopper. Plus, Mazi could play 3T while Sweat starts at NT. He looks like a starter here. Nice field goal block to start the video too.
2a. Patrick Paul OT Houston
https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Patrick-Paul-OL-Houston
6'7" 333lbs
He played Lt at Houston. Looks like a monster of a blocker. Given Tyron Smith's history, he seems like the perfect replacement for him. Massive, strong, looks to have similar skills to Tyron. All in all, a good choice for us.
2b. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. LB Clemson
https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Jeremiah-TrotterJr-LB-Clemson
6'0" 230 lbs
Physical linebacker, great at pass rush and coverage. He'd be exactly what we need at linebacker.
3. Will Shipley RB Clemson
https://clemsontigers.com/sports/football/roster/will-shipley/
5'11" 208 lbs
Solid back who appears to be capable of being a lead back, and he has good pass catching abilities. I think he can help us with our run and short yardage pass game. We should be able to control clock.
5. Javion Cohen OG Miami (FL)
https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Javion-Cohen-OL-Alabama
6'4" 319 lbs
Looks to be a solid depth option at guard. Good measurables, and should be able to step in if needed. He and Bass should make nice depth pieces.
6. Ray Davis RB Kentucky
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Davis_(American_football)
5'10" 216 lbs
Solid option at RB as well. He would make nice depth behind Shipley. I think a RB room of Shipley, Davis, Vaughn, and maybe Pollard (if we bring him back) or Dowdle would make for a lethal running back room. Much better than last year.
7a. Omar Speights LB LSU
https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Omar-Speights-LB-OregonState
6'0" 229 lbs
Linebacker depth. Gotta try to find more depth here. That's what he provides.
7b. Jackson Mitchell LB UConn
https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Jackson-Mitchell-LB-Connecticut
6'1" 230 lbs
Hey, it's the 7th round. Might as well take another linebacker. More depth there. Considering how thin we were at LB, it'd be nice to have sufficient depth there with players that are linebackers and not safeties masquerading as linebackers.
So, we'd have a NT, an OT, 2 RBs, a guard, and 3lbers. Should be a nice combo of starters and quality depth pieces in positions needing more depth.
