Roy Helu - RB - Player Nebraska RB Roy Helu Jr. is reportedly beginning to draw second- and third-round consideration after a strong Combine performance.
Helu has been a dark horse favorite of Rotoworld's Evan Silva for weeks now. "Helu had the best workout by a runner at the combine," said one GM. "More importantly, he caught the ball well and was really smooth in position drills ... This kid can fly." Helu's college stats don't jump off the page because of the Cornhuskers' committee attack, but his 6.62 YPC, 4.40 forty time, and Combine best 1.50 10-yard split are eye-catching

I want him SOOOOOOO bad, called him as a prospect when he was projected UDFA in october/november.

i like the workout #'s and his size/speed, but i'd hate to see us go RB in the second or 3rd round. this draft needs to be about the OL & DL. I can see a RB in the 4th or 5th maybe.

I think if you can get Helu in the 3rd it would be worth it. He'd be much more likely to contribute than a 3rd round OL would be imo. Especially if you draft a potential RT in the first 2 rounds.

I don't know about that. I think you can still get a starting OG in the 3rd round.

We not only need to address our RT spot, we also need to address our OG spot as Davis needs replaced. Kosier needs replaced before too long but you probably are ok with him for another season or two.

If you can get a decent CB, OG or safety in the third I think you pass on RB. I think you can still get a decent RB later in the draft as they will be a part time RB anyway.

I don't want him....He's too stiff a runner, no change of direction.

Yeah he looks great hitting a gaping hole but this jag isn't worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Agreed, he was expected to amaze in workouts, coaches tape sees a different player however

He's not going to be a difference maker that's going to put us over the top, or give us quality depth needed at key positions (DL, OL, LB, DB).

Nope. Let someone else get him.

I think Helu can be a playmaker at the next level, as a slot receiver.

He needs space to maximize his strengths, which is just to fly. That said, 3rd is a little too early to nab him.

I think you're talking about Niles Paul.. Helu's hands are suspect enough for a RB as it is..

From the few games I saw of Helu, he catches the ball fine. Holding on to it is another story.

:lmao2:

yea.. that's true too.. Burkhead is a better pass catcher, though.. Just by the sheer fact that he holds on to the ball..

Kinda depressing to read that we need depth at every position on D, even though it is true. A RB isn't needed, our D was too horrible for a luxury pick like a RB.
