Safety Problem

After reading all of the bring back Watkins threads...Here is a thought:

This may be total pipe dream and I am not saying this will/should happen, but if you look at the stats Henry has had his best season ever as a rookie safety. So why not take a chance and move Henry to safety, thus leaving Glenn or Reeves to man the other corner opposite Newman. From what I have seen of Reeves, I think he would be okay. I definately think Glenn could man the spot but I don't know how long he would hold up. Also, from watching Henry...He seems way more comfortable playing man up hard nose D near the line of scrimmage or sitting in a zone watching the QB's eyes. When he is in man coverage deep he seems to loose his composure. Thus playing Henry as a cover 2 deep safety might benefit us more than Watkins/Davis/Coleman. I don't know, let me hear some thoughts!

I would rather move Reeves or Elam to safety..

I have no sympathy for us not having fixed the free safety position.

For years we have tried the cheap way to get players at that position.

Sometimes you gotta pay a FA or pick a player in a 1st,2nd or 3rd round to fix the problem.

Coach em up! Has not worked. Another year of the deep pass killing us.

screw it put henry back there.

let newman play the best reciever regardless and put glenn on the oppisite(sp) and let reeves spell him. glenn can get 3\4 of the plays with reeves coming in on nickel and to give glenn a rest.

Funny how New England has done that several times coached up a freakin pratice squad CB and winning a Super Bowl with him as a starting cb due to injuries :banghead:

The Reeves to safety experiment died during training camp for some reason. Elam's another SS and wouldn't be an upgrade over Davis.

As far as this season's concerned, I'm afraid we're stuck w/ less than average performance from our FS.

Watkins will be fine after an offseason of film watching, strength and conditioning.

For Henry to move to FS, we'll need to spend a high draft pick on a stud CB for the move to make sense.

RW is NOT the problem. Asking him to be both a ballhawk AND a punishing run stopper is too much. It needs to be one or the other. He was drafted to be the former and not the latter.
