Saints sign kicker/GAA player Charlie Smyth to 3 year contract

Saints have signed gaelic footballer Charlie Smyth to a 3 year contract as placekicker. Smyth is part of the Leader Kicking program which is turning GAA and rugby players into kickers and punters. 4 of these players were invited to the NFL combine in Indianapolis.

Interesting thing is that Smyth is not regarded as the best kicker in the group. Monaghan GAA goalkeeper Rory Beggan has been the star of the group - had the best combine and pro-day, but has not yet signed for any team.

Beggan, who was the best of the GAA kicketd in combine is trying out with the Panthers. One of the others is trying out for the Steelers.
