Some of my thoughts:

-This may of been the best Cowboy offense we have seen over the last 20 years:

-Elite OL (Leary/Parnell), Elite running game(Murray), very good receiving options (prime Dez, Witten, Beasley and TWilliams) Huge Murray fumble at the end of the 1st half was a big momentum swing.

-Defense was very suspect. Couldn't get any pressure on a injured Rodgers. Rookie Devonta Adams had a huge game as the Cowboy defenders keyed on stopping Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb. Huge 3rd and 15 for a long TD in the 3rd qrt changed the game.

Dez call was total BS as we all know, but it wouldn't of mattered as the defense couldn't get a stop.

Some conclusions based on what I saw compared to this Cowboy Team:

-Our current offense has similar receiving weapons, but the OL/run game is the biggest difference. It makes sense that they made fixing the run game an offseason priority. It is still very much a work in progress.

-Defensively, our current group is far more talented.

Mincey/Selvie and a rookie DLaw were our pass rushers. Hayden/Crawford were our DT's. McClain was out due to injury, saw Hitchens/Carter at backer, Carr/Steling Moore were at corner, Scandrick in the nickel, Wilcox/Heath at Safety.

Remember our DC was Marinelli and Eberflus was our LB coach. Eberflus did a tremendous job was turning around McClain's career at the time, Hitchens was suppose to be a undrafted fa and became a solid starter. Point is, don't discount Eberflus coaching chops.

There are just some teams assembled that dont have everything needed to bring home a Lombardi or even get to a SB

We are seeing it in real time with the Bills and Ravens. Two top 5 Qbs with good supporting casts and coaches but there always seem to be a way they lose the biggest games.

yea..... his name is Patrick Mahomes.
The knicks had some great teams in the 90s... but couldnt get past Jordan. Lots of great players from the 90s dont have rings for 1 reason. Michael Jordan.

Pretty much everyone knows the Dez catch ruling was one of the biggest F up calls up in playoff history up to that point. Just as bad as the no call for the saints in the 2019(?) playoffs. Plus the fumble hurt

But as the OP stated would the catch even had mattered? Our defense was starting to get carved up and Rodgers had plenty of time to walk down the field

Didn't Dan Bailey miss a field goal right at the end of the 2nd quarter? This gave the Packers great field position to eek out 3 points just before half time. Huge 6 points swing.
The three big turning points on offense:
  • Murray fumble
  • Bailey missed field goal
  • Dez catch.
Plus a bad defense only potentially capable of holding on when dominating time of possession. Even an MVP calibre QB that season with an elite offensive line couldn't overcome the above.

Interesting, isn't it .........you have to have ALL cylinders clicking postseason. Otherwise, they will expose your weakness

True enough , but in our case its either the refs calls, the Niners, or our previous #1 offense scoring 7 or less points in the 1st half of our last 4 or 5 playoff losses.

I can take Mahomes taking out a team but with us its always something else

Yep. But no one ever talks about the field goal miss, only the Murray fumble. It was huge, yes, but it was more than early enough in the game for Rodgers to overcome.

That's why we literally saw Howie Roseman build a team that can beat the NFC and Mahomes Chiefs.

Rosters can be controlled while all the other factors are fluid

Hitchens was suppose to be a undrafted FA? When?

wait, you mean Patrick Mahomes will expose their weakness. There were some great teams in the 70s that just couldnt beat the Steelers. It doesnt mean they had some glaring weakness.

There’s a few things people miss about that game….the fg miss, fumble….the fact the Dez catch was on 4th and 2…could’ve got something shorter…
