Cowboys TE Schoonmaker could return to practice this week

By 105.3 The Fan Staff

Cowboys tight end Luke Schoonmaker may be making his training camp debut sooner than expected.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said Tuesday on 'The K&C Masterpiece' on 105.3 The Fan that Schoonmaker was making progress and could be nearing a return to practice.

"He's actually making a ton of progress. The best reports I've had on him have been from the last three days from Britt Brown (Cowboys director of rehabilitation)," Stephen Jones said. "He's doing a hell of a job. I actually think he'll be moving into practice here at the end of the week."

The type of injury that just may not hold up for too long. Keep my fingers crossed.

Here's hoping the staff favors bringing him back when he's 100% and no sooner. In any case, it's great to hear he's doing well. His talent is needed.

Good ...... this young man has the talent to compete for a starting job.

The son of Fergu is in the driver seat at the moment.
He is not the son of Fergu , someone in his lineage long long back! LOL:laugh:

This tight end group needs his physical participation here and now. Tape a salt tablet on the boo boo and get out there. Important stuff here and now!

Perfect. Our 3rd string TE that we drafted in the 2nd round is ready to roll!!
You know that Randy white once was a third string special teams player his first two years in the league had to change positions twice and then finally became the manster

you do realize that they don't all start out great like Micah Parsons he's an outlier. tony romo was once an undrafted free agent sat for three years and then put up some of the best numbers ever by Dallas cowboys quarterback ,how about Prescott drafted in the fourth round now a top 10 guy, was 4th on the depth chart?

You're dooming this man and you think he's overrated before he plays a snap in the NFL how about we tap this discussion two to three years from now I mean I remember when Terrence Steele was called the Jag I remember when Doug free one day he ran out of the league by this place you all are not a good judge of character or as a player evaluators just because you got it right a few times you got it far wrong many more times can this man actually suit up and play in the NFL a few years before we run him out and call him a third string tight end as if it's doomed forever that he will never live up to his second round billing.. Come on people I'm tired of hearing it you say he's a reach I'm going to trust the coaching staff who gets it right more than they get it wrong when it comes to the draft..
.
Can we all take a step back with the shots that we take at players you know he's wearing the star and the side of his helmet right you know he's a rookie you know he wants to get out there and play and yet all we hear is negativity because you wanted somebody else in the draft it becomes ridiculous this place is just becoming as ridiculous as you think some of these shows you know like the you don't like Brian Brodus or you don't like sas or bayless well you all have become them!

The vast majority heal up fine. Just like any injury sometimes reoccurence can happen. The worst nfl case was Antonio Gates where he missed the end of 2010 and then tore scar tissue in the preseason of 2011 and missed 3 games.
What Schoonmaker is recovering from now is a partial tear of his plantar fascia. I have no clue when he will be back, perhaps very soon, perhaps not, we will see.

This doesn't end his being prone to Plantar Fasciitis, which could flare up at any time.
