Scientists are gonna try and make a small star, ie. fusion energy, this summer. Haven't they learned anything from the movies? It's dangerous and will kill us all. I mean cmon Spiderman 2 taught us that fusion energy is way scary dangerous and will turn the main scientist into a maniacal super-villain with 8 limbs....

I think it'd be cool to have fusion energy b/c it's much cheaper than anything out there, but I think there is a ton of risk involved.

There is risk to everything. They already know how to and have created fusion reactions. It currently takes creating a fission reaction first because you need a tremendous amount of energy to start the fusion reaction, but you get so much more in return. And that is only in weapons so far, which is why it is considered as not controlled fusion. If they can create a controlled fusion reaction without having to first use a fission reaction that would be great. It is a good next step try. It will probably take many more decades to get fusion power realistically powering the country.

Look at it this way. If it fails and the entire world is destroyed, there will be no more heartbreaking ends to the Cowboys season that we have to suffer through. :laugh2:
