19 yr old out of the Bahamas the Rangers gave an astronomical 3.2 million $ to sign under international players he is skyrocketing through the Rangers system as a shortstop . Seagar is Seagar a WS MVP twice but Walcott is one of the top prospects in all of baseball .

Look forward to Rangers 2025 after a disappointing 2024 and Leiter & Rocker DeGrom Eovaldi Dunning rotation . Play Ball !!

It’s not certain Walcott will play SS in the majors. He has a plus arm and can possibly play RF or 3rd (but there’s Jung). He’s 18 so there’s time. If they need him at SS, Seager can slide to 2nd maybe. Sieman maybe dealt idk. It’s too early to speculate. I still remember when Profar was supposed to be the next big thing. Right now, Walcott isn’t ranked as high as Profar was (the number 1 prospect in baseball).

I think he turned 19 . Probably a few good solid yrs of AA and AAA from the bigs . Maybe debut in 2027 . It’s nice to have highly thought of players in the near future . I could see sliding Semien to an LF in a few yrs create an opening slide Seagar to 2nd . Jung is spectacular if he can stay heathy .

I thought of Jurickson Profar as well with Walcott . Remember when Texas traded him .

Yep, he wasn’t ready for the majors then. I’m happy to see him have a respectable career. So many high prospects that that fail on their original teams flame out. He at-least kept at it.

Yeah the problem with Profar the Rangers never found what position to play him . I hope whenever Walcott makes the bigs he is set at a position and can concentrate on hitting .

Walcott is big. Profar small.
Walcott has elite speed. Profar plodded.
Walcott has the power to hit 460 feet home runs. Profar maybe an occasional 410.

There is no comparison at all.

But Walcott is still in raw form. Can he develop into a diamond?

Agreed 100% - but Profar wasn't necessarily small - he's 6ft 180 - he ended up being #1 based on really not having any glaring weakness - all the tools were above average, which back then was hard to find.

If you've ever seen Walcott play - it's eye popping.
The sound off the bat as they say is different. He's huge, fast and strong as heck.

He's 6'4 200lbs now and will continue to fill out.

I think he pushes his way into the show next season at the latest. Where he plays - who knows, but thinking of adding his tools with Langford's tool set - is pretty dang exciting.

Not comparing the over skill set of the player. I am comparing the last time, the Rangers had a SS prospect. Jung was the last infield top prospect I can think of. Gallo and Leody were before Jung but were in the outfield.

I Remember the Profar Hype as an all tools prospect that’s all I was saying . The Walcott press is on that level . So some think he will be in Arlington next year at 20 . That’s exciting .

Seagar is the type of all around Ranger you want healthy and in the lineup daily . One thought might be to take wear and tear off him is make him the first basemen and have Walcott at his natural SS position and leave Semien at 2nd where he shows up every day the guys a rock.

I can’t see Seagar going to first base. I can’t think of a SS in history that’s done that. I understand he’s a big guy, but I rather see his bat stay at SS or 2nd. I can’t see them bringing up Walcott at 20 with Seagar blocking him unless they move him to the outfield. Maybe left field with Carter at CF and Langford at RF (Leody would be gone by then). To me the most likely scenario is his dealt for pitching. DeGrom is in his last days here (I doubt he ever plays a full season here ever).

You left Garcia out ?

After the year Garcia had last year, I wouldn't mind shopping him this coming trade deadline.

Yes he had an off year . The entire team was off . Wouid love to see him have another offensive explosion .

Remeber we are talking 2 years from now. Idk where Garcia is with arbitration or whatever, but I can’t see Young signing him to an extension if his struggles continue. It really depends on what happens with Carter. If he struggles like he did last year before the injury, it may force them to keep Leody and maybe keep Garcia longer.

Hoping Carter is the rookie year Carter . I wouldn’t trade Taveras until you see Carter play April & May .
I'm torn up inside about Carter's back. Such a great player and inspirational guy.

But reality: spinal cords don't care.

Is it fixable? Will he be ok? Will surgery on the back set him back as it does many? I don't want to think about it. I just want to see the guy play baseball.
