So.

Warner Bros/DC will go the route of Marvel’s Ant-man quirkiness?

I will be patient. And wait for April.

On a tiny side note, it will be really weird (but hilarious) seeing Captain Marvel, the name used by the Shazam character for decades, debut in theaters a MONTH before Shazam!

Okay. I do have one more question...

ZACHARY LEVI? CHUCK??

Sorry. That was two questions.

That looked really cheesy. Better hope the comedy angle works for them.

However I will say this...I always though Shazam was kind of cheesy as a kid so who knows.

Yeah, the casting makes me think it's made more for kids.
It looks like Big, but with superpowers, and without the talent of Tom Hanks.
Who knows though?

Now that I think of it... The entire DC/Captain Marvel/Shazam story has always been based on the child transforms into an adult theme. Just. Like. Big!

On one hand, that is a great comparison. On the other hand, I am not sure copying Hanks' formula WITH super powers will mesh with audiences.

Of course some audiences do enjoy simple over complex. I can see the potential of the movie being a hit. They could be mimicking DC's pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths Shazam more than the comics character from the past three decades. Plus the 'childish' Shazam has had some intermittent play in DC's animated stuff such as Young Justice.

That last angle was smartly done for the character. I would lean positively towards the movie if it were presented in that light. However, I may have an opposite reaction if they go full Tom Hanks mode.:D

The books and 70's show did not do the character and his associates domain any favors. DC has done better by the character in the recent past though.

Isis was a babe though!
Isis was one Saturday mornings show I never missed.

On a completely different note, does anyone remember Electro Woman and Dyna Girl (think it was an ABC Saturday morning show) from way back when? Now THAT was cheesy. :p

Sure, I loved all the old Sid and Marty Kroft stuff when I was a kid.

Mark Strong will be playing Dr. Sivana. Wonder which bad guy role Strong will be best remembered? Sivana in Shazam or Sinestro in Green Lantern? Okay. Technically Sinestro had not turned to the dark side in Green Lantern but that is only because the movie was too weak to support a sequel so that audiences could see him eventually become a bad guy.
