Short yardage & penalties

Too many penalties.

Romo says they normally win if they limit penalties to 5 or less and almost always lose if they commit 10 or more.

They failed too often on short yardage plays.
- The outside run by Dak failed because Schultz whiffed on a block.

-Somebody missed a blocking assignment on the Pollard failed 3rd and short outside run. WR Brown and somebody else were blocking the same player and nobody blocked the other defender in that area.

Not sure why they they didn't just run behind the alignment with Peters at TE next to Tyler.

I'm not too concerned about the pass blocking. Pass rushers win some snaps. Can't expect perfect blocking.

I have no doubt that teams with 5 or fewer penalties win more than not. I was asking how often does it happen? That looks like 288 out of 13+ years of football. So, maybe 10% of time a team achieves 5 penalties or less?

I'm not so sure that teams having five or less penalties have lost more than they have won, a good team against an average team could easily win with those odds, two evenly matched team maybe not. I think TR pulled that one out of his lower extremity area. IMO

Good question.

I have not reviewed that stat. Maybe I do a review of penalty stats to see if there is a correlation to wins.
