I will probably be bashed for this but I honestly thought they should have gone for it instead of a field goal. My thinking is , there still would have been more than a minute on the clock and Seattle would only need a FG to win. Do a QB sneak get the 1' and 1st down ,( teams usually get the spot on such a play ) take a Knee twice to run the clock down to about 10-15 seconds and then a running play to the end zone , if they don't get it call a time out and kick, leaving no time on the clock. Well thats what I think , Parcells is far too conservative for my taste. Like I said I will probably be bashed so bash away.

i agree 100%

What if we don't make the first down? Seattle just runs out the clock to win 21-20. At least making the FG would've given us a temporary lead if not the win.

I thought the same thing. I also know if Parcells went for it and we didn't get it, he would be crucified to no end. I still think we should've went for it.

no, we would've been in the same position as we were, they'd have the ball deep in their own territory and we had 3 timeouts.

i said the same thing in the game thread, even if we make the FG there is very little doubt that the D loses the game with plenty of time left and how easily the scored on the last possession

In a sense Parcells "went for it" with the pass to Witten.

I was pretty shocked that he did that. Shocked in a good way.

After that, the only call is to go for the FG..especially after we came up short when Barber ran the prior third and short.

Hindsight is 20/20.

I wanted us to go for it as well, but there would be hell to pay if we passed up on the chance to take the lead. How was Parcells to know we'd botch the FG?

There is no way they could have gone for it. If they did and missed, you guys would have shut this site down with threads about boobs, Bill is ******** etc

:hammer:

Actually, when I first saw Romo running on the FG I thought it might have been an intentional fake, because I was pretty confident that if we gave them the ball back they would drive it right down our throats kick a FG anf win. And I really thought ROMO was going to score.

the series in the red zone at 17-13 was where the stage was set for this loss...third and one...Dallas is leading right there...they can be aggressive...the defense was playing pretty well up until then...you have'nt had many possessions to score TD's...what happens?...no shots taken at the endzone...no playaction...no quick slant...nothing but run Barber like the PHI game...this is how you lose a ball game...playing not to lose...Parcells trusted his (suspect) defense when he should've rode the offense into the ground for a first down and touchdown...Holmgren had no compunction towards going for it on fourth downs...i put this one on Romo, Parcells and the offensive line.
