Romo channels his inner Dan Fouts and has another 300-yard game, getting the baying hounds off his doorstep for a few minutes.

But instead of previewing the game, I thought I'd review the Cowboys Stadium -- from a player's perspective. I asked Giants tackle David Diehl for his perspective on the noise, the spectacle, the walking onto the field through a fancy bar. Diehl's thoughts:

"You pull up to the place in the bus, and you're amazed at the size. I mean, it's three times the size of Giants Stadium. None of us had ever seen a stadium this big. It was cool before the game to be warming up and to be able to see the highlights of the other games and see how incredibly clear the video picture was ... Walking out before the game, you feel a little like an animal in a zoo. Normally, you go onto the field through a tunnel, and there's no one there but you and your teammates and the coaches. But the people there, and most of them are drinking, obviously -- you hear a lot of things. You're sort of trapped in there, with people pounding on the glass at you ...

"The [video] boards are so high above the field that when you're playing, you don't even notice them. I'll tell what was frustrating to me. I'm always looking for down-and-distance on the scoreboard, and in most stadiums, you can look on the side and see it pretty easily. But in this place, there are mostly ads where that normally is. Miller Lite, Dr Pepper ad screens instead of the down-and-distance. I found it in the corner of the end zone, but it's hard to see ...

"When we were on the sidelines, I didn't find myself looking up all that much, because you're at a bad angle to the boards. I'd glance up every now and then, but I didn't spend the game when the defense was on the field watching the TV ... As far as the atmosphere, I thought it would have been a lot louder. It was loud at the beginning, then at the end, but there were times you were surprised at so many people without all the noise.''

Overall? "Exciting, really exciting,'' Diehl said. "Stadiums are becoming big attractions. This is the future of the NFL -- bigger, glamorous stadiums.''

Considering the situation the Giants were in at that point, that is disheartening. That's when the crowd needed to be loudest. I'm sure there was alot of "here we go again" going through the crowd's head, though.

doh.

here we go.

Thanks for starting this crap again wg.

cue the guy 1500 miles away.

This is a guy who was on the field. Can't get much more legitimate than that.

That's disappointing.

I give up. I wont defend the crowd anymore.

If an opposing player says it was loud to start, but tailed off at the end (when it should have been loudest, considering the situation the Giants were in) then what's to defend? "It was totally loud, the guy on the field doesn't know what he's talking about." ?

no your right.

Like I said I quit. People can form their own opinions of the crowd. I really dont care.

Looks to me like he's saying it was loud at the beginning and end, but tailed off at times in between.

Mis-read. Good call.

I just can't believe they apparently didn't fix the down-and-distance problem from the preseason. That was the single most frustrating thing to me when I went.

It would be easy to rectify that problem. They just need to do it.

I am not really sure what the problem is he is talking about. The down and distance is on the ribbon board all the way around and on the screens in the corner.

I do think they should make it more prevalent with just a dark background in each corner somewhere though.

but I didnt have any issue with that or the audio problems many had, but I think those were problems people had in the upper decks.

I was there and directly in front of me was a couple in their 50s-60s who literally did not make a peep until the Giants' last drive. Behind me was a guy that kept complaining about people standing up in front of him. He kept saying "If they wanted to stand they should have gotten standing room only tickets..."

Local Cowboy fans must be mute.

Texans are masters of the golf clap. I'm from Chicago; when we cheer we get LOUD! I was once at a Cowboy 49er game in Texas Stadium and I was chearing loud (no obsenities mind you) and the row in front of me would turn around constantly and ask me to keep it down. I was astonshed. Dallas lost that game and aftrwards, the glowing sentiment of other Cowboys fans was "oh well, we'll get them next time"; as if that was the appropriate response.
