Yeah, yeah.. they have to win out to even sniff one of the BCS bowls. But this has been one heckuva year and makes this old cougar (;) ) proud.

---------------------------

The Houston Cougars moved up two spots in the latest Bowl Championship Series rankings to No. 11.
It is the highest UH has been ranked in the BCS, up from its previous high last week at No. 13.
The Cougars (9-0, 5-0 Conference USA) are now No. 11 in all three major rankings – the BCS, the Associated Press poll and the USA Today Coaches poll.

I forgot about Stanford.
That team is good in all phases.

I think with UH's offense, they could hang with any team.

Their defense? It's still a work in progress. At least Coach Sumlin pays attn to it. lol

speaking of stanford, i was thinking about them vs an SEC defense, and beyond andrew luck being better than anything the SEC has seen this year, i think their offense would be pretty successful vs bama or LSU because they rely on their TEs so much. they arent a typical spread offense, they use their TEs size and speed to make mismatches in the secondary, and they have 3 NFL caliber TEs! i hope we get to see that and not another crap Bama/LSU game

They'll also need Boise State to lose one.

This is true, but if they don't win out, then it's not even a conversation.

One loss and they're prolly playing in the FT. Worth bowl again. Exaggeration, because they'll be in the Liberty Bowl, but still. It would be quite a feat to sniff a BCS bowl game.

btw, this pittsburgh/baltimore game is a great defensive battle, that game last night was just pathetic

Would be a waste of a potentially good BCS bowl IMO. Houston would likely get crushed by everyone from whoever gets the at-large SEC bid to Boise State. They are Case Keenum and absolutely nothing else.

Hey, I hope it happens. I suppose it's possible they schedule a Boise State versus Houston game, similar to the Boise State-TCU game of some time ago. Though I'd consider that quite the long shot.

Stanford runs the ball VERY well. Harbaugh does not at run a true spread. If anything they are in a pro set failry often.
The D is decent too.

You're right anything is possible. As a fan, I can only worry about what they control. UH controls their destiny, as they have only one potentially tough game on their schedule.

Going undefeated would be huge by itself. Their schedule is pretty soft, so qualifying for a BCS would be out of this world.

well, they could play in the rose bowl if oregon loses to stanford badly, i think they could compete with the big ten champ. they could play in the orange bowl vs the ACC champ, they can beat them. they could play in the fiesta if Okie state plays in the championship game vs the big east champion, i think they would certainly beat them.

point is, outside of the at large SEC team, the big 12 and pac 12 champ if they dont go to the championship game, and boise, they could compete with the rest, and thats like half of the field for a bcs bowl

i hope not! that was such a joke when they did that! they were scared to have the little guy pound on a big time SEC team like Utah did the year before. i hope to god Boise gets to play bama if not in the championship game. but im sure the BCS cowards will stick them with the big east champs.
