We all have done it at one point or another... When was the last time you skipped work and what did you do that day?

My last skip was 2 weeks ago, we had been getting ALOT of rain and I emailed my boss to say that my apartment has flooded and was waiting for a plumber. I went to the gym, played video games, cleaned, did laundry, and had lunch with my fiancé.. It was an awesome day...

Never. Even when sick, I seldom take off. I have to be is really bad shape not to show up for work.

You do know that is a sign of selfishness and poor ethics right? :muttley:

Let this serve as a warning to everyone you meet.

Hope your boss is not a member on this board. Lol.

About 20 years ago. Called in sick the day before a weekend getaway so we could go early. My wife and I worked at the same place and we made it all the way to the parking lot and decided to say screw it. Went back home, packed our bags and left. We took our lunch and at it on the road. True story.

28 days on 28 days off for me. Unfortunately, can't really call in sick out here, we have a medic on the rig and he is a rat....

I work in tech. It's surprisingly very common to skip work in my field. I work at a startup but even people I know who work at the big companies do. I can work from home whenever I want and I have unlimited paid vacation. We have 2-week "sprints" which means goals that we plan to get done every 2 weeks. As long as you meet your sprint you're fine. Sometimes I'll work from home and only work an hour or two, or not at all. I'll work at night or on a weekend if I fall behind in the sprint. Otherwise I won't.

I have been working 14-18 hour days straight over the past year and half. I may take a little time off on Saturday or Sunday but one of those two days I am working at least 4 to 6 hours. . In fact this past weekend was the first weekend I have not worked in well over a year.

That is what happens when you have your own company. Maybe I should go to work for the man so I can call in sick.

I work overnights so I only really skip work unless im sick or havent slept. And besides Im auditor so I barely work when im there.

Having said that, I do take random vacation days to stay have and have some beers and play video games. Plus working overnights its just nice to sleep at nighttime occasionally

I jumped ship once in Trinidad to watch the Cowboys.

Great game Tony Hill had a huge 2nd half and we beat, i think Washington late... guessing 28-27, could look it up but i like to challenge myself.

Got in a lot, repeat a lot of trouble, jumping ship is no bueno.

Ever read The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber?
Talks about the distinction between working on your business and working in your business.
Great read for business owners. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/81948.The_E_Myth_Revisited

lol, I actually used to skip work all the time, and me and buddies skipped school all the time also...but the last time I skipped work was 2 years ago, had a job workin overnights at the time, Fri and Sat nights off...my dad surprises me with Tix to our home game against the Midgets, after we won the atmosphere was like I had never seen before at AT&T or Texas Stadium...We were now 6-1, everybody was hootin and hollerin "How Bout Them Cowboys?!" "6 and 1!" "Super Bowl!" etc....Anyway my dad got really good n drunk but I was runnin off Mt.Dew cause I got maybe 2 hrs sleep the night before havin at the time been used to stayin up all night and sleepin durin the day....But when we got back up to Denton I dropped off my dad, went home and called off for that night, and did my own partyin, wife was pissed the next day cause I kept her up with loud music , but it was all worth it......that season didnt end up in a SB like we all want, but boy it still sure was a fun one....

Did it this Monday. Went out for breakfast then shopping with my wife, late lunch and then picked kids from school.
